“Caseys is OK, depending....”

If you are looking for fine dining or gourmet food, Casey's is not the place. We were just looking for someplace to have a bite at the bar and watch a race. The food was fine, nothing special and certainly not bad. The bartender was excellent and the locals were very friendly,

“Not great”

Casey's Caboose Steak House

We ordered the mussel linguine & seafood pasta - both were not good. Mussels & some of the seafood were overcooked. Redeeming features; salads & bread are good, can save ordering & paying for appetizers! We also asked to sit up in the caboose which is cosy and secluded. However these are insufficient redeeming points to save this place.

“Not worth the time or money”

To put it simply, the food was almost as bad as the service. To start with, I had to wait fifteen minutes for a table, even though the restaurant was almost completely empty. Then I was offered a seat in the caboose area. This would be fine for kids, or a person shorter than five feet tall, but there was no way I could even fit in the booth, because of the extremely low head clearance. The waitress was very unattentive and slow to respond to even the simplest request for another glass of water. When the food finally did arrive, it was overcooked and bland, not to mention completely overpriced. There are much better restaurants available.

“Not the place to eat in Killington”

We had a dinner at Casey's Caboose in June when in Killington for a few days of golf. For our whole vacation, we were on the road for 10 days and this was the only bad meal we had the entire trip. We stopped early, 5:00, on a Saturday night; there were only 2 tables in use, but there did appear to be several wait people on hand. It looked cute inside and the menu looked good. Our waitress set the tone with no smile, not even a greeting, just kind of "what do you want' attitude. So, we order drinks and wait, then order dinner and wait. Finally bread and salads arrive. The 'french' bread is so hard it is difficult to cut and appears to be like a large crouton - hard and crunchy all the way through. I ask the waittress for another loaf, perhaps not so well done, and she lectures me that french bread is 'supposed' to be this way. Somehow, she missed the concept of how customer service is directly related to the amount of tip. I ordered the london broil - did not come with the 'au jus'; my husband's NY Strip steak was barely edible, etc. etc. Our friends meals were just barely adequate. We are not difficult people in a restaurant and generally just like good basic food, served with a friendly smile. We'll eat elsewhere in Killington.

This was the only bad note in our stay in the Killington area. We stayed at the wonderful Birch Run Inn and wish that we had all of meals there!

“Attention & Quality Not Consistant with Price”

Casey's Caboose Steak House

Dec 11, 2005

We were looking forward to this restaurant. It seemed to (and does) have a really neat atmosphere, and shorter folk can actually climb up and eat in a real caboose.

We were looking for a decent dinner in a decent place, so this seemed like it would fit the bill. We were judging by the entree prices - $15 to $30.

The food was okay, but the experience was lousy. When we entered (through the bar), we sort of felt like they were surprised we were there. I had a medium/well london broil with au jus, which mystically came without au jus or a steak knife. (The waitress didn't come back for fifteen minutes, so I cut my meat with my butter knife and gave up on the juice.) The veg of the day was overcooked squash.

However, we stopped in at the Grist Mill down the street and LOVED it. Skip this place and go there. We liked it so much we ate there three days in a row.
