We chose Patio del Malinche from reviews on here and I am SO happy I chose to follow everyone's advise! The staff is AMAZING. We were warmly greeted by Marcos and he directed us to the best restaurant in town a block away from the hotel (we ate there twice!). The hotel is just the right size. not too big, not too small. the rooms are a decent size and very comfortable. The free breakfast and coffee was incredible and I looked forward to it every morning. The pool is refreshing after a long walking day of Granada and the drinks were great. This is the best, most affordable hotel I've ever stayed in. We were always greeted with a smile by every staff member while they proudly work to make their hotel the best in town and it's WORKING! The stay was so enjoyable that we chose to go back to Granada the last day of our vacation and stay here again. I can't wait to go back for more! Thanks for everything Patio del Malinche!

The best choice for staying in Granada! The Malinche is small, quiet, beautifully tended, exceptionally clean and manned with the greatest staff! The location of the hotel is perfect - a short 5 minute walk to the center of town and the best restaurants. The breakfast are unbelievable, we ate the Tropical Breakfast every morning, the freshest fruit you could imagine! The staff was truly the highlight of the hotel, Lidia and Marcos went out of their way to make sure we had an unbelievable trip (from giving directions to making hotel reservations – they were truly interested in making sure you fell in love with Nicaragua). Things not to miss out in/around Granada: dinner at el Zaguan, drinks and dancing at Café Nuit, the market in Masaya, a day trip to the Laguna de Apoyo and a day trip to the Isletas! The hammocks at the hotel are the perfect place to relax after a long day of exploring Granada!

Hotel Patio del Malinche in Granada, Nicaragua, had a host of plusses, beginning with its great location, about 4 blocks off the main town square. The hotel was just a delightful tropical haven, complete with two interior patios flush with a variety of tropical vegetation, i.e., palms trees, banana trees, beautiful flowering trees (hence the name Malinche which is a fern-like tree with vibrant red flowers). Interspersed are hammocks where guests can recline at their leisure. The rooms, which looked down over all of this, were modest but were very clean with private baths and cable TV.

My friends and I were assisted during our 5-day stay by the super-friendly hotel staff, who helped us with everything we needed in terms of navigating the town and environs. We absolutely loved the place and plan to return again next year.

We stayed at the Patio del Malinche twice. The first time it was on the back of the reviews on this website... and how right they are! The second time was at the end of our holiday, and we had no doubts: we had to go back to the same hotel.
As you must have gathered by now, this place is amazing. Of course, there are the obvious attractions: great location, just a couple of blocks from the main square, a beautifully and tastefully restored colonial house, spotlessly clean and comfortable rooms, a delicious breakfast, a pool to cool down by, a bar serving some of the best cocktails in Granada. What made the difference for us, however, are the people. The owners are a young Spanish couple from Barcelona, Spain, who like so many fellow travellers, fell under the spell of Granada and decided to sell up shop back in Spain and start this beautiful boutique hotel. Lidia and Ramón have done a marvellous job. The moment you come through the door you are welcomed like an old friend. This appears to be the philosophy of this place: they have surrounded themselves with friends, who all play a part in the running of the hotel. I particularly want to mention Lenin (yes, that's his real name!), a very attentive, competent and gentle young man who used to live in the house before it was taken over by Lidia and Ramón. I fell in love with Granada and this hotel and would recommend it to anyone who wishes to visit Nicaragua, a beautiful country full of the most amazing people.
Oh, and one last thing. We also experienced the very nice touches mentioned by some of the people who reviewed this place before us: Lidia ensured that we had coffee and sandwiches for our early flights and offered to store some of our luggage whilst we went travelling to the Corn Islands.
