My mom and I were staying in Hawaii to visit family in Kona. We drove around the island and stopped for the night in Hilo at the Emeraldview. The hosts had true Aloha spirit and their guesthouse was in absolutely immaculate condition. Though there is no smoking in the guest house, there was a nice bench and ashtray area set away from the house that was convenient and pretty which made my smoking mom very happy.

The breakfast was delicious (I'm remembering a fantastic date-nut-bread type thing...) and the hot tub was a treat. Our hosts were very helpful in finding restaurants and the way to the Lava flow (which is amazing and not to be missed if it is still where it was when we were there.)

Stay here!

This review is from a year ago but we still talk about the Emeraldview B&B. The room was excellent and we were treated so nice. Breakfast was very good and the bathroom was beautiful. Sorry for the long delayed review but if your in Hilo the emeraldview is 1st rate !!!

Emeraldview Guesthouse is beautifully decorated! It is on a fabulous street, very close to the old downtown area of Hilo. We stayed in the Ginger Falls room, and it was quite a treat. Loved the balcony, the view, the hot tub, and the breakfasts! Ken was very helpful. I also liked that our room was close to the front door because I felt we would not bother anyone as we came in and out (the owners do live upstairs and the house was pretty quiet). Everything was clean and comfortable - would love to go back!

I could not be happier with our stay at Emeraldview! Our room and lanai over the rushing river were beautiful. Ken had the best restaurant advice and I would not dream of returning to Hawaii without having his breakfasts. Yum!
