“No privacy!!! Will never stay again!!!”

Rented a condo here for a week for my honeymoon. Was completely disappointed when we saw our room. Dirty and rusty with bugs flying all around. The second night was very unpleasant as there was a bunch of drunk teenagers having a party right above us...before we knew it the party moved outside-which then escalated into a drunken brawl on the stairs. Hotel security and cops made an appearance...a very long and disruptive night. The fourth day my husband and I took a snorkel tour, prior to leaving we had placed the "privacy" card on our door. We do not like people in our room when we are not present. When we returned to the condo there were two housekeepers in our room! I immediately called and spoke to the housekeeping manager who mentioned that the Papakea's policy is that a housekeeper MUST enter each room every 48 hours. However, that is NOT written in any of their paperwork, nor was it ever brought to our attention upon check-in. IT IS ILLEGAL TO ENTER A ROOM THAT HAS REQUESTED PRIVACY!!! I WILL NEVER BOOK A ROOM HERE AGAIN!!! THINK TWICE BEFORE MAKING RESERVATIONS HERE!!!! THERE ARE PLENTY OF NICER PLACES TO STAY IN THIS AREA, THIS NOT BEING ONE OF THEM. GUESTS ALSO HAVE TO PAY TO USE THE SAFE, WHAT A JOKE!!!

ResortQuest at Papakea Resort is total worth it!!...I had booked an ocean view room from Cheaptickets. Before going to Maui, i had called up the hotel and mentioned to them that i am travelling with a kid and would like a good and clean room.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the room when i entered. It was just perfect. I stayed in G208, The only the thing between the lanai and ocean was some grass. This room has a perfect clear view of the ocean.

The room was clean and had all the facilities needed, including washer dryer and cooking utensils.

Whenever we were in the room, we spent majority of the time in the lanai...Having a good lanai is the most important as relaxing in the lanai was the best thing to do and gazing at the ocean.

The employees at this hotel were very understanding and courteous.

Housekeeping was great and punctual....

“Enjoyed Our Stay”

ResortQuest at Papakea Resort

Apr 30, 2008

Myself and wife stayed for 10 days and had absolutely no complaints about Papakea. The staff were friendly, the unit clean and room service every day. There was not much beach directly at rear of the grounds for swimming etc.but it is only a few minutes walk to nice beach. The grounds were beautiful parklike, and very peaceful and serene. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay there again. “Anti Smoker Hotel - Smokers Should Boycott”

ResortQuest at Papakea Resort

Not Good if you're looking for a tropical Hawaiian setting. This place is more like apartments on the beach. Actually some are apartments. A lot of older people (70-90+). Beach is tiny to non existent at high tide. Swimming is hazardous. I consider myself a courtious smoker but this place goes overboard. Smoking is discouraged anywhere on prop even though Hawaii law permits smoking more that 20 ft from a building. Other Hotels allow smoking as long as you're away from buildings, I suggest if you're a smoker to ask first.I wouldn't stay here again.

“Cockroaches!”

ResortQuest at Papakea Resort

1 of 5 stars
Los Angeles, CA
Apr 17, 2008

One word: cockroaches!!!!

As soon as we checked in and got to the door we found a notice about "regular pest cleaning". The notice said that if guests had a baby they could be exempted from the procedure but then all roaches would move to that condo. We had a toddler, and asked to be exempted since he would put everything he sees in the mouth. The reason we stayed was that we thought if they did this procedure on regular basis then the pest problem could not be that bad. We were wrong! Every time I turned on lights in the bathroom or kitchen I've noticed little "crawlers".

The condo was very old, kitchen was awful and empty. We had to buy everything starting from dishwasher liquid and detergent, and finishing with salt, sugar, oil, e.t.c. Well, all was for nothing, after cockroach encounter I just did not want to cook at that place. We tried to be out as much as possible. The sofa bad we slept on had a plastic wrapper on it, and a fitted sheet on top. We finally took it off on the third day of stay. Changing resorts was not an option since it would be very expensive for us.

One positive thing - a cleaning lady. She was extremely nice and did her job beautifully.

The place next to Papakea - Ka'anapali Shores seemed to be much more neat and upscale, and was selling for the same price at Expedia.
