There's so much to say about staying in a great place in a great location that has GREAT customer service, especially these days (sheesh). Our stay was excellent from the get-go. Easy to find with free parking, we were warmly received when we went to check-in (and this was no fake I-gotta-smile-cause-I'm-on-camera B.S., the front desk reception was very genuine and had a great feeling about them). We arrived a bit early and the rooms were still being cleaned (If I remember correctly checkout is around noon and checkin about 3), but the staff went out of their way to get a room ready for us, which was totally unexpected and really appreciated (this is something that shouldn't be abused by guest's though; checkin IS at 3). We had a great feeling from the start. The gentleman who checked us in was Tim. TIM IS AWSOME!!!! He's this absolutely wonderful teddybear of a character with a face like a cherub. Completely loveable. He made you feel right and home and welcome (as in "welcome back, it's great to see you again!!!" kind of welcome.), and we just felt so welcomed and had such a wonderful impression immediately.
Our room was on the front of the hotel, and as the reviews say Lombard street can get noisy but we didn't mind; it really depends on how heavy of a sleeper you are. And please keep in mind that the staff doesn't control traffic-I saw another guest literally yelling at one of the staff because of the noise and DEMANDING that he be placed in a different room on a night that the hotel was sold out!! If you can try to get a room on the back side of the hotel get one, but don't be suprised if you cant. They seem to be popular with some people and go fast.
Breakfast is small-light pastries, bread and juices. While delicious it is small, but we didn't stay at the hotel to eat. When you check in you are told that a "LIGHT breakfast will be served", so don;t expect a banquet.
The location is PRIME. The hotel is settelled in the northern part of SF not too far from the Golden Gate, and there are a bunch of great diners, cafes, pizzarias and shgops all within great walking distance. The bus 30 is the way to get around. We had never been to SanFrancisco, and Tim helped us out sooo much with getting around. The rest of the staff did as well. They went above and beyond tohelp out ourselves and the rest of the guest's in the hotel. Even people who would come i with questions that weren;t staying at the hotel!!!!
Our stay was wonderful. The rooms are immaculate and the service was unmatched. It's a blessing that this hotel is full of helpful happy people and is also a shame that these people aren;t all over the place: guest's and customer service reps could really learn a good lesson from the staff at La Luna. I almost felt sad leaving, I had become so accostomed to to seeing the same great people everyday. I would highly reccomend La Luna for people who are looking for simplicity and friendlycaring staff.
Rooms: Clean, big, comfy and great; can be loud at times
Location: Awsome, everything you need or ways to get where you need to go with walking distance
Breakfast: Small but a great jumpstart for your day
Service: The Staff is like nothing i've seen. They all remember who you are and always greet you like a regular.
