We have stayed here a number of times while visiting Boston for business and pleasure. The hotel has been renovated and is centrally located near the Theatre District and Tufts Medical Center.
It is a 15 minute of so walk to Faneuil Hall and a block or less from the T station. You even get a Doubletree Chocolate Chip cookie.

It is not too hard to access from 90, just pay attention.

Enough about the "scary" location of this hotel. Just remember, you are in a city, and like every city, one must be aware.
The Doubletree was a great stay this past weekend.
We checked in around noon and received our yummy cookies.
We had a room on the 3rd floor facing the hospital. (For the record, we heard only 1 siren the entire time we were there.)
The room was pretty large, king bed, big windows, fridge, mini bar, desk, no tub, just shower, neutrogena toilet trees in bathroom also. The pool and gym are in the connected YMCA. Just because it wasn't in hotel, it wasn't a burden at all.
The lounge has a bar that sits maybe 15.
Location.... again, I repeat DO NOT BE HESITANT on booking this hotel. I actually liked the location. Close to Jacob Wirths one of the oldest pubs in Boston. Down the street from Filenes Basement and Downtown Crossings. Shopping everywhere. The Boston Commons (park) was close also. Bring your ice skates in case you want to try the rink. Restaurants everywhere. You name the type of food, and it would be a 3-10 min walk to get there.
The service and people at the hotel was great. Absolutely no complaints.
Hilton/ Doubletree is a good name and a solid choice when you come to Beantown.
Lastly, the weekend that we went every other hotel in the city was well over $200.00, not here.... less than $200. Booked through hotel via. phone.

I stayed in this hotel in Oct 07 with my Dad and 19 month old daughter. We found it a great hotel we had read bad reviews about location etc but this is far from the truth- 5 min walk to down town and the T station practically in the car park of hotel. We never once felt in danger as other reviews had stated. The service was great eg asked at reception if they could heat baby food for me and they sent a microwave to our room!!Great stay and would recommend it without a doubt

Our hotel stay had several problems from the start. Disappointingly, we did not receive our promised complimentary cookies upon check-in, which is not a big deal, but when we saw other guests receiving them, we felt as though we were being treated badly. We were treated rudely, and there was no effort made to make things easier for us. During our stay, the staff was of little help is numerous areas, and with many of them having strong accents, it was hard to understand what they were saying. The rooms are nice, and the hotel is in a somewhat unsafe area, but only at night must one be concerned. I was overall disappointed in our treatment and will not be recommending this hotel.
