“Great Regency Club lounge, access to the Sporting Club, close to Torrey Pines”

Hyatt Regency La Jolla

May 7, 2008

Located next to Hwy 5, the hotel is convenient to access La Jolla, Torrey Pines Reserve, beaches and is close to the Whole Foods, Peets Coffee, etc. Guests also have access to the Sporting Club for about 10$ a visit (the prices on Hyatt concierge website are outdated) which is an independent high-end gym as well as free pool. Since we had access to the 16th floor club lounge, we found that to be one of the best features of our stay, Recently re-modelled the lounge offered an impressive aray of food, snacks, and their coffee was excellent. The staff are very personable and helpful. The lounge also has two computers with huge monitors, if you do not have T-mobile hotspot access on your laptop.

“Solid hotel...Good alternative to Downtown”

Hyatt Regency La Jolla

4 of 5 stars
Toronto, Ontario
May 6, 2008

We stayed for 3 night in two rooms in the end of April
Good alternative to San Diego Downtown hotels - 10 minutes to historic La Jolla and 15 minutes to Gaslamp District
Check-in was in seconds. We had no problem to get two non-smoking rooms next to each other.
Rooms were nice and clean, bed - comfortable. Excatly what you expect it from Haytt.
Reception and conciergewere very friendly and co-operative.
One big NO - valet service - buch of the irresponsible and somewhat rude teens without proper management and supervision.
Bar is not that good - so would strictly recommend to go out either to La Jolla or San Diego downtowns
Overall - solid and fairly priced hotel

“Nice place, but some issues”

Hyatt Regency La Jolla

Apr 12, 2008

I was here for a conference, and was not able to take advantage of all of the facilities.

Nice rooms as you would expect of a Hyatt, and wonderful housekeeping. Probably the best thing about this hotel was the very attentive and helpful staff.

I was not able to use the fitness facilites, but the word from others in the group was that it was quite good in terms of equipment, staff, space, cleanliness, etc.

The hotel was not that convenient to other restaurants, etc. We often took a cab to La Jolla town or Del Mar for dinner.

What needs improvement: the restaurant on the lower level is serviceable at best. Given this location in southern California, and LaJolla in particular, this is unacceptable. If you were here on vacation, you'd like to have a car to get to better dining spots and touring, or stay closer at a different hotel that was closer to more amenities.

From other trips to this area: be sure that you visit the aquarium -- a wonderful stop! La Jolla town also has its charms, an art museum, etc.

“Wonderful Service, Relaxing Stay”

Hyatt Regency La Jolla

5 of 5 stars
Minneapolis, Minnesota

Everything was wonderful about our stay. The rooms and grounds are kept in immaculate condition and look even better than the pictures. I stayed with my 12 year old for spring break.

The service is outstanding, and very friendly. No snooty attitudes here! In fact, by the end of the stay many of the staff knew us by name. I hurt my back kayaking, and asked to help locate a chiropractor near by. The front desk, not only helped me find one, but also called them, booked my appointment and printed out a map for me. Very impressive!

The pool area is fabulous, and very relaxing, with many comfortable areas to sit. It was only in the low to mid 60's, however with the heated pool it was very comfortable to swim...and I tend to be very sensitive to cold. The whirlpool is kept clean and very warm. The sound from fountain behind is very nice and totally masks the fact that there is a freeway behind. You wouldn't know it! There are a lot of white males doing laps, but also some families with kids as well.

If you wish to avoid the parking fee, there is parking near by. We stayed 4 nights and, at the most, had to park two blocks away, it is a nice walk so I didn't mind. There is a 15 minute grace period in front of the hotel, which we used a few times for loading, etc.

The hot breakfast buffet was wonderful. It is $20 for adults and $10 for kids, and includes juice. It was well worth it. Also there is a coffee kiosk in the lobby, with good Starbucks coffee ($3.50), and free refills.

The area is very convenient, right off of highway I-5. It is centrally located between San Diego (Sea World, zoo) and Escondito (Wild animal park). You are 8 minutes from the beach, which has ocean kayaking trips. La Jolla is gorgeous and everywhere you look and drive the view is more breathtaking than the next. There are stores nearby, but not walking distance. There is a huge Whole Foods very close. It was great to grab a healthy, reasonably priced, meal from the large hot bar, salad bar, pizza oven etc.

We will be back!!

“Nice rooms”

Hyatt Regency La Jolla

I stayed for a 2 day conference in October of last year. The room I stayed in was clean and nicely appointed.

It took me a while to find a parking spot on the street but did find it both nights I was there.

It's kind of isolated from restaurants (other than the ones in the same compound as Hyatt).

It was too cold to use the pool, albeit a couple of people did so. It looked nice and clean.

At the check in desk, a female concierge was pleasant and helpful. Would stay there again is I have any business again in La Jolla. It's an expensive place, but I guess even Motel 6 would be expesince in that area :)
