Great stay at this hotel. Nice location and easy accessilble. The staff were awesome and very accommodating. We only stayed 2 nights, but it was worth it. The bathrooms I found a little small but in all I thought the hotel did a great job for us. We will likely be back if back in this area.

“Hyatt Aventine La Jolla”

We just had a wonderful stay at this Hyatt! We used Hyatt Passport rewards (my husband's business travel perks) to book a standard room with a king-sized bed. But when we arrived, my husband told the staff it was our anniversary and asked for any complimentary upgrades that might be available. We were assigned to a beautiful suite, maybe 1200 sq. ft. on the 16th floor, with club privileges. We also received a complimentary evening snack delivered to our room by roomservice and turndown service, as well. Our room was immaculate, the bed very comfortable, and the staff very friendly. Now, granted, we would not have had this room if we were paying for it! But it just goes to show it's worth asking for upgrades. We also spent some time at the pool, which was beautiful and clean, and the pool staff very friendly!

“Great job as our wedding hotel”

Hyatt Regency La Jolla

5 of 5 stars
San Diego

We contracted with the Hyatt Regency to be our official wedding hotel, and they did a wonderful job. Many of our guests mentioned to me that the staff was welcoming, professional, and classy overall. It's really says a lot when your friends and family are making unsolicited compliments on your choice of hotel -- no kidding, we heard from many of our guests on the day they checked in. While the location (for San Diego) is a little generic in that it's in a high-density residential neighborhood not right in downtown or by the beach, it's also very convenient to everything, and the room rates are very reasonable for the quality (you could stay in downtown, but in my mind that isn't really in the spirit of San Diego, or you can stay right on the beach for a lot more money).

I debated many different hotels to suggest and arrange for our wedding guests (we live in San Diego, and wanted to find a good compromise between quality, convenience, and cost for our guests), and we were overall extraordinarily happy with the Hyatt.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Ever since our wedding, when my wife's mother comes to town, she still stays at the Hyatt. Enough said.
    • Disliked — The design of the building, although very classy, is also a little "cold."

“Beautifull Hotel But I Left Disappointed”

Hyatt Regency La Jolla

Let me start off by saying this this is a nice-lookng hotel. Good-looking rooms, restaurants and lobbies. But overall, I am a value-oriented traveller and my stay at the Hyatt La Jolla left me disappointed.

I stayed in a standard room booked through a corporate training facility that my employer uses. Rate was $225 a night for 5 nights. The problem was the fact the the room was apparently not cleaned before my arrival. The bathroom floor had stains and hair in the bathtub that wasn't cleaned until my 3rd night there. The garbage cans were also full when I got there. Not acceptable.

I also got the tired of being overcharged for nearly everything. I had a can of soda from the minibar my first night there. That cost me $5. The room service pizza that I ordered set me back $26. Whenever I visited the gym, I was charged $20 per visit. Internet service was $10 or $12 per night, and if I visited the business center that would have cost me $10. Finally, I tried to get credit for my stay on my new Hyatt Gold Passport card, but was told that my rate did not merit any points. Get the picture?

Still, there were positives. The breakfast and lunch buffets were excellent. The service was generally good. And of course, the views from the room were neat.

Unfortunately, my sense of being nickel and dimed to death, along with the fact that my room really wasn't being cleaned until midway in my stay left a bad taste in my mouth.

“Lovely La Jolla Hyatt”

Hyatt Regency La Jolla

4 of 5 stars
Los Angeles, California
Jun 1, 2008

The Hyatt La Jolla is a wonderful option for San Diego business and leisure visitors alike. The service is top-notch, as is usually in Hyatt hotels - the staff is helpful, courteous, and friendly. The rooms are nice, with comfortably beds, but housekeeping only changes the sheets every three days and doesn't bother to re-tuck the bottom sheets, so on days two and three, they're sliding and bunched and you're forced to make your own bed. The bathrooms are nothing special, but the shower is good. Valet and self-parking are really expensive, but we always found free street parking. The pool is really nice, with lanes for lap swimming, and there's also a good jacuzzi. There are some nice shops and restaurants nearby, including a Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Ralph's (with delicious Golden Spoon frozen yogurt inside), Starbucks. Einsteins, etc. With a location right off the freeway but with no noise, this is a great choice for inland La Jolla and visiting San Diego!
