This is a fun little stop to make, particularly for those who are interested in volcanic activity.
My 9-year-old was wowed by the extinct volcano, particularly the scenic and spiraling drive up to the top. My perspective as the driver? Scary! The road is narrow and there's no safety rail, and this height-afraid gal couldn't get to the top fast enough. The payoff, however, was worth it.
At the volcano's top, the crater is an interesting place to explore. The scenery, too, is worth the drive (and that's saying a lot if you remember how scary the drive is).
Um, then there's the drive down....
My son vows he'll take his kids to the volcano someday, so I'm guessing it was a good stop from his perspective!
