Altohough my trip to New York was short I saw alot of the city, I toures round Central Park, I saw John Lennon's house, I attended a seminar at the Lincoln Centre, I visited Ground Zero, which was very emotional as you imagined the hurt all those people went through in the 9/11 tragedy, I went to the top of the Empire State Building, this is a must do activity in New York as the view is spectacular and you feel as though you are on top of the world, I took a backstage tour of Madison Square Gardens which was really cool, I travelled on the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty which again is a definate attraction to see in this magnificant city. On the two nights I was there I went to Times Square, this looked beautiful at night as all the lights were on and it was lively, you had all the shops open, bars and restarants all over, it was brilliant!
I went shopping in the worlds largest store Macy's, went shopping in Bloomingdales and Tiffeny's, I did almost ecerything there is to do in New York.
This holiday was an amazing experience for and I will never, ever forget it, I never thought I would be given the chance to go, but I did and I made the most of this mindblowing experience.
I would advise anybody to go because weather you love it or hate it, you will never forget it!!
Had to post to say how wonderful we found the people of New York during our recent stay. We were approached on numerous occasions by passers-by who could obviously see the bewildered looks on our faces and who offered help and advice. We were offered seats on the subway (and we are not old or pregnant)and everyone we came in contact with during our stay made us feel really welcome. Thank you.
yes stayed in long island for three days took train to ny no problems if you woulld like to see ny my advice is to take the bus tours that leave reguraly
where you can get off and on whenever you like this cost about 37 dollars each but well worth it the last one leaves time square about 6:30 going in sept was better not so hot or busy
to see the statue the best and the cheapest way is to take the downtown tour and take the free boat ride on the staten island ferry about 30 min each way
What can I say.....New York City in October - a fantastic visit with excellent warm weather for the second year running.
Stayed at Le Parker Meridien which was OK (see seperate review) but pricey with very small bathroom and a limited view of Central Park which did not match up with expectations.
Booked at the main box office for The Producers in the morning and managed to get great seats for the evening performance and with no outrageous payment. Great night, fantastic show.
Visited Dizzys (jazz bar) in the Lincoln Centre and listened to a great night of jazz with Tony Bennett sitting at the next table who managed a chat with me. The meal and service were great. What a night to remember.
Bus tours of Harlem, Brooklyn, Chinatown etc etc (things we missed last year) and again walked the Brooklyn Bridge.
Felt completely safe at all times when walking out during the day or evening. Plenty of Police around giving a feeling of security.
We had another great week with friendly New Yorkers making us feel totally welcome. After the first morning even the Deli bar staff where I picked up our early morning coffee knew our order before asking.
Hope to visit again next year.
Thanks to everyone we met and who made us so welcome during our visit.
