Okay, there were some problems during my stay at this Travelodge.
First, there were so many bird feathers in the courtyard and alley and parking lot, I was astonished. What were all these feathers? There were several inches of them on the walk near our room, and, by the end of our two-day stay, we had feathers all over our room, in the shower, stuck to our clothing and piled up around the empties.
So, there was the feather problem.
Also, I did notice a strong tobacco smoke odor that permeated our lodgings. I see that odor has been noticed by other reviewers. I smoke. However, that was perhaps the heaviest smoke odor I have experienced. In fact, it smelled like an unwashed 100 year old tavern in winter time. Intense, but with a certain "lived-in" charm.
One other problem I noticed: The bathroom water fixtures were all reversed, and I burned myself, and received alarmingly cold jolts of water daily.
There is a great bar across the street though. And the cops were really great with their attentive responses to the room next door to us. I think they captured the right guys that night. I don't think it was so pleasant for them to be face down, spreadeagle in all those bird feathers on the sidewalk...
So, I have to say that my stay at the Travelodge on Montana Ave. was "okay, but some problems...."
