“Great Hotel”

Comfort Inn Downtown/Historic Area

4 of 5 stars
Brooklyn, NY
Mar 24, 2008

This was a very nice hotel for the price. The location is a little out of the way, but a free shuttle service is provided, making getting around extremely easy.

The room was huge and comfortable. The staff was pleasant and knowledgable, there is a reasonably priced parking lot there, and the breakfast was decent.

“Good Value in a great location”

Comfort Inn Downtown/Historic Area

West Hartford, Connecticut

After reading some of the reviews on this site, I was prepared for a bad experience, but after actually seeing the hotel, I was pleasantly suprised. The room was clean and the staff were nice and somewhat knowlegable. It is true that the hotel was a bit out of the way but the complementory shuttle made up for that. The hours for the shuttle can be a problem for those who are all night partiers ( since it stops running at ten) and those who need to get to the hotel earlier then 6pm (it stops running at 12 pm) But if you don't mind walking then it is not a problem since the hotel is a ten minute walk from the historical park. Noise was somewhat of a problem but I got used to the noise from the train after a while. Also, the remote for the tv did not work and that was an annoyance. Over all though, this is a good hotel and is loads cheaper then any thing else in the historical park area.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — location, value, free shuttle
    • Disliked — slow internet and only one computer avalible, broken tv remote

“Fair Price...Friendly Staff”

New Jersey

Hotel is located within walking distance to historic area and Dave and Busters (across the street). Its about a $10-12 cab ride to the bars of Philly. (we were visiting for St. Paddy's Day).

Hotel staff was VERY friendly and very helpful. I would recommend it for weekend trips.

“Friendly, efficient, and well situated”

I gave this hotel a 4 out of 5 rating because of the price, location, and staff. It was clean, safe, quiet, and the onsite parking ($21 per day) was very convenient. The room was larger than I expected but the bathroom was really quite small. We stayed on the 10th floor and had a great view of the river and some skyline.

The staff at this hotel epitomized the best of Philadelphia. It is one of the friendliest cities I've ever visited and the people working at all levels of this hotel were no different. Kim and Brooke working the front desk were exceptionally efficient. Jorge, the shuttle driver, treated us like family, and gave excellent recommendations for dining.

DO take advantage of the shuttle. We felt safe and learned the service is very reliable. Note that the shuttle does NOT run between noon and 4pm so plan accordingly.

DO walk a block to Dave and Buster's for dinner. It's in a HUGE converted pier building with cool decor. Call for reservations!

DON'T get lost! Columbus Ave. is hard to get to. Our first attempt landed us across the Ben Franklin bridge and into Camden!

“Beware”

Comfort Inn Downtown/Historic Area

My family and I stayed at this hotel for one night in September. We stayed in Room 810. It wasn't until we got home that I noticed several red marks on my body. My doctor said it was from bed bug bites. I contacted the hotel management who refunded half of the room price.

However, we managed to bring some home with us! My poor son was covered with bites by the following week. I contacted Comfort Inn online and filed a complaint. We received a general letter saying that the individual hotel would contact us. They never did. Instead we were contacted by their insurance company.

This trip has cost us a fortune. Please check every room you stay in, it is a nightmare if you get bedbugs. We are still dealing with the effects: washing laundry, vacuuming, cleaning, extermination... I will never be the same again.
