“Very Nice Hotel!”

Club Quarters

May 6, 2008

I had read reviews first, so I knew the rooms would be small.

I told my travelling companion this, and when we first arrived he replied - the room isn't small!

By US standards it is. But I've stayed in many small European hotels, and I'd say this room was as large or LARGER than most small European hotels.

Everything was very nice and in excellent condition. In fact, everything looked brand new!

I've had back problems at home - but sleeping in my twin bed - I had NO back problems the entire day.

Everything was perfect, including the staff, who were very friendly.

Room was quiet. Location was excellent - right in City Center, and only 2 blocks from the Suburban train station.

But as others wrote - no fridge, and no shelf in shower to hold washcloth, soap, shampoo etc. That they should add - but certainly was only a minor inconvenience.

Would definitely stay there again!

“Itsy bitsy tiny room”

Club Quarters

1 of 5 stars
Alexandria VA
Apr 23, 2008

First, the good news. The lobby is lovely with nice amenities such as free computer access and free coffee, tea and ice water all day. On the third floor there is free chilled water and plastic bottles with caps to take it away with you. The staff is SUPER SUPER SUPER nice and truly helpful and totally delightful. The staff is amazing!

The bad news. The rooms. OMG - they are truly awful. Okay, really, really really awful. They are clean, I'll give them that but small beyond belief. My husband and I in this tiny teeny room. A desk, no dresser - so we put our clothes in the desk drawers. The bed - supposed to be a queen - not! The mattress - soft and mushy - we woke up each day with aching backs. And the bathroom - wait for this - a stall shower (which is okay) but there is no shelf or bar in the shower. No place to put your soap, shampoo, wash cloth. We were 2 people and we had one wash cloth and 2 small towels (one of which was frayed).

We will never ever ever stay there again. Great staff, lovely public areas but the rooms are beyond awful. Oh, and the restaurant - super expensive.

“Club Quarters is a Great Value”

Club Quarters

Apr 13, 2008

What we enjoyed:
*VALUE : A terrific price allowed for us to overlook any minor shortcomings.
*SAFETY: A secure environment with the rooms located far away from street level.
*COMFORT: Bed was small but comfortable. Shower H2O pressure was consistent and reliable. Furninshings {including plumbing} were modern.
*LOCATION: Within walking distance to many items and metro is accessible within 2 blocks to access the Historic area. Liberty Center shops are right across the street and there are lots of pleasant restaurants within a few blocks.

What was disappointing:
*No fridge! This was the only serious drawback for us--as any PM snacks we might bring back to the room had to be of the non-perishable variety!

What was irrelevent:
* room size was smaller than expected but certainly something we got used to. Kinda snug and romantic!!

We would definitely return!

“Not Bad”

I spent two nights at the Club Quarters and found it ok. The net connection was good, the location was ok (six or eight blocks east would have been better), most of the staff were friendly and helpful (the woman at the desk when I checked out was the exception). The rooms vary in amenities offered. I visited a friend in a room that was exactly like mine in size and appearance and was exactly the same price, but hers had a refrigerator and microwave where mine had drawers. There are disadvantages if you're driving: there's no place to park in front of the hotel to unload luggage, and even with the (tiny) hotel discount, parking in a nearby garage cost just under $60 for about thirty hours. I might stay there again if flying, but I doubt that I would do it again when driving.

“Live like a college student!”

Club Quarters

Ashland, MA

We were in Philly for the first time and a local college reserved the room for us, so we didn't have any choices.

TINY is the key word! It was like a college dorm room with a tiny closet and another tiny closet with a toilet/sink/shower. No refrigerator or microwave. Coffeemaker was in the bathroom. Twin beds just like a college dorm. Everyone around us liked to let their doors slam shut at ant time of day or night. Paper-thin walls.

We were on the 11th floor with a TINY window about 12" wide which didn't open (for our safety). If you squeezed yourself into the corner, you could see a small slice of Center City.

Location is excellent, but every store is closed by 7 or 8 PM - even the mall.

After a long trip, we went to bed early. Room Service woke us up...repeatly knocking on our door. Then we heard the radio conversation questioning the room number and discovery that they were knocking at the wrong room.

To compound that, even though checkout was 12 Noon, on the day of departure, we were sleeping in, and the housekeeping staff woke us before 10.

Ask for a pillow? You are sent to the 3rd, 8th or 12th floor to search for a closet. Customer service is non-existant and the front desk staff couldn't be more disinterested.

Automatic check out? My receipt told me that I had to go to the front desk. Waited in line to hear them say "You are all set."

The pro's: Clean, didn't smell, many points of interest close by, free WiFi.
The con's: Tiny rooms, tiny beds, tiny window, tiny customer service.

I think that Philly has better options than Club Quarters.
