“OK for Overnight Airport Stop”

Embassy Suites Hotel Philadelphia Airport

Feb 13, 2008

Shuttle to hotel was fast and efficient in both directions. Room was standard Embassy Suite, so nothing special but clean and quiet. Room service very slow and quality poor relative to the cost - could have gone to high end restaurent for what was charged. For overnight stay between flights, OK.

“You're basically in the ghetto sir”

Embassy Suites Hotel Philadelphia Airport

1 of 5 stars
Fredericksburg, VA
Feb 11, 2008

Pool was hot, like bath water. There were many, many dead insects in the pool. The toilet seat in our bathroom was dirty and broken. It looked like it belonged in a subway station. The door handle was broken on the inside of the bathroom door and we couldn't shut the door because the knob was coming off and we wouldn't be able to open it from the inside. One of the beds was broken in the middle. There was quite a bit of small trash under each of the beds. Construction was going on in the hotel and for the first 2 hours after we arrived, there was drilling outside our door. Our room was over a rooftop in which 5 men were walking on top, right by our balcony door for 3 hours after our arrival. When we reported all of these issues to the front desk staff, we were told we were in the ghetto and these things should be expected because the majority of the guests are not ideal, the hotel can't keep up with the maintenance issues caused by the less than stellar guests.

“Nice Amenities but avoid the sofabed”

Embassy Suites Hotel Philadelphia Airport

Checkin was fast and professional. The room was standard Embassy Suites. There were four problems. 1. The sofa bed was unusable. The springs had ripped through the canvas bottom and the mattress would not stay on the bed. We had to remove it and place it on the floor for safety reasons. 2. At 6 a.m. on a Sunday there was a protest march by a group of Unionized workers that were protesting the hotels use of non-union construction workers for an ongoing renovation. 3. The pool was over capacity with a group that used the hotel for a children's birthday party. 4. The managers reception was unusually low budget. There was one plate of cheese and crackers that lasted 30 minutes into the 2 hour happy hour.

I complained to the staff on checkout (I did not want to move rooms at 10 p.m. with three children and luggage). They did refund 30% of the cost of the stay.

Just wrapped up a two-night stay...I've stayed at probably 10-11 different Embassy Suites properties over the years, this is the only disappointing stay I've had. My room was extremely shabby and dirty. It's one thing to be worn over the years...another to have hairs from previous guests all over the bathroom -- in the tub, near the sink, on the floor -- probably a dozen observations and I wasn't even trying. The carpet was very worn and soiled, the toilet looked 15 years old easy -- quite simply the room needed a complete renovation a long time ago -- and they were in the process of renovating while I was there so maybe this room is coming up soon. Also, I should note there were roughly 10 protesters loudly booing us as we entered the hotel at check-in with a large banner reading "Don't Stay at this Hotel". I have no idea what the story was. Our dinner at the hotel restaurant "Embassy Grille" was below Applebee's/Chili's chain "quality" at twice the price. Anyway, the workers were nice, the breakfast/happy hours were OK, but for the money I'll be elsewhere next time.

“Nice staff - Freezing Cold Inside”

Embassy Suites Hotel Philadelphia Airport

Jan 5, 2008

I stayed for one night in January 2008 for Business. Location is very convenient to airport, with many travellers staying the night before early AM flights. I stayed here because of location to a/p and also price (downtown hotels were $300+ and I got my room at Embassy for $159). My room was fine and the extras you get from the Embassy (free drinks and free breakfast) are always a plus. The overall quality of food for dinner at Embassy Grille was good (Lemon Chicken pasta good!) but my dining experience was miserable because it was freezing cold inside of the building. I was shivering as were the other patrons during dinner. When I asked about the temperature, the waitress said there nothing they could do. I complained to 3 different employees about the temperature and they all said there was nothing they could do. I would stay here again if I needed to be by the airport, but not in the winter as they apparently can't handle regulation of the indoor temperature.
