“Hotel under construction”

Embassy Suites Hotel Philadelphia Airport

We recently stayed at this hotel while in town for business. This was my second visit to this hotel, the first time was two years ago. I want to start with the good this about this hotel...

The good...
1. The hotel shuttle picked me up at the airport within 15 minutes of calling them. The hotel is only about a 5-10 minute drive from the airport.
2. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I was booked in a room on the 5th floor. (one that was recently updated) It was very nice and clean. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was big. I would suggest you request a room that on the 4th or 5th floor, they are the ones which have been updated. The other rooms are not very nice.
3. The breakfast was great. As with all Embassy Suites the breakfast was cook to order (omlets, etc..) and free.

The not so good...
1. The hotel lobby is under construction. There are workers everywhere, but they did clean up while they were working.
2. There was only one elevator working while I stayed here. It was a long walk from the working elevator to my sleeping room.
3. One day...I returned to my room to find my door open, but no one was there. I thought maybe they were cleaning my room, but they were not and I did not see a cleaning lady anywhere close to my room. (this was a little scary)

Once this hotel is finished with updates, it should be very nice.

“Below average stay.”

Embassy Suites Hotel Philadelphia Airport

2 of 5 stars
Cincinnati, Ohio
Mar 29, 2008

This place is undergoing major renovations.
Usually this is stated on the website, but not here ,and the cost of the room sure was not discounted. Pool was closed. Business center and internet access closed. ATM gone. Snack room, little store closed.
Hallway had an old apple core outside of the elevator when I checked in and it was still there the next day - right next to a wine glass knocked over on it's side the entire stay. I had booked 2 nights, I checked out after the first night.
The managers reception , always a benny of staying at an Embassy, was in a meeting room behind the bar. The bar was open but charging for overpriced drinks.

“OK for Overnight Airport Stop”

Embassy Suites Hotel Philadelphia Airport

Feb 13, 2008

Shuttle to hotel was fast and efficient in both directions. Room was standard Embassy Suite, so nothing special but clean and quiet. Room service very slow and quality poor relative to the cost - could have gone to high end restaurent for what was charged. For overnight stay between flights, OK.

“You're basically in the ghetto sir”

Embassy Suites Hotel Philadelphia Airport

1 of 5 stars
Fredericksburg, VA
Feb 11, 2008

Pool was hot, like bath water. There were many, many dead insects in the pool. The toilet seat in our bathroom was dirty and broken. It looked like it belonged in a subway station. The door handle was broken on the inside of the bathroom door and we couldn't shut the door because the knob was coming off and we wouldn't be able to open it from the inside. One of the beds was broken in the middle. There was quite a bit of small trash under each of the beds. Construction was going on in the hotel and for the first 2 hours after we arrived, there was drilling outside our door. Our room was over a rooftop in which 5 men were walking on top, right by our balcony door for 3 hours after our arrival. When we reported all of these issues to the front desk staff, we were told we were in the ghetto and these things should be expected because the majority of the guests are not ideal, the hotel can't keep up with the maintenance issues caused by the less than stellar guests.

“Nice Amenities but avoid the sofabed”

Embassy Suites Hotel Philadelphia Airport

2 of 5 stars
Annapolis, MD

Checkin was fast and professional. The room was standard Embassy Suites. There were four problems. 1. The sofa bed was unusable. The springs had ripped through the canvas bottom and the mattress would not stay on the bed. We had to remove it and place it on the floor for safety reasons. 2. At 6 a.m. on a Sunday there was a protest march by a group of Unionized workers that were protesting the hotels use of non-union construction workers for an ongoing renovation. 3. The pool was over capacity with a group that used the hotel for a children's birthday party. 4. The managers reception was unusually low budget. There was one plate of cheese and crackers that lasted 30 minutes into the 2 hour happy hour.

I complained to the staff on checkout (I did not want to move rooms at 10 p.m. with three children and luggage). They did refund 30% of the cost of the stay.
