We attended Jazz Fest and wanted a hotel near to a bus line so we would not have to pay for parking. I was a bit concerned when we checked in because of the hotel across the street. The staff said it had recently had the power cut so the squatters would move out. The neighborhood is not so good, it's just kind of desolate, but we never worried about leaving our car because there is a security guard on the property.
The hotel is kind of cute, its raised and all the rooms are on the second and third levels. Parking is underneath. They have a courtyard of sorts on the ground level with water fountains and raised plantings. I really enjoyed having a cup of coffee outside every morning.
The rooms are clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good enough, about average for a deluxe continental. I would recommend this hotel for Jazz Fest to anyone due to the location. Its a bit far from the tourist area but if you are pinching pennies you can take the bus, it stops very near the hotel.
