“A Rare Find”

Garlands Guest House and Creole Cottages

We have been staying at Garlands Guest House for a number of years now, and don't think there's a better place to stay in New Orleans. The location is good, across the street from the French Quarter, so you can walk to everything without being in the middle of the noise. You get to stay in your own cottage, individually furnished with antiques, and are served an excellent full breakfast every day. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. This is a perfect place for a romantic getaway. It is also a great place to stay if you are traveling with a group of friends, and would make a great place for a small wedding or business retreat.

In addition to being rich in history, the Garlands Guest House was a wonderful “anchor” for our trip – starting out our day with gourmet breakfasts, (which were different everyday!) and ending our evenings sitting at a table outside our adjoining cottages with a bottle of wine (or 2). Mary & her staff were all helpful & we enjoyed sharing stories with them - not to mention what a wonderful cook Mary is. The location was perfect – the French Quarter was right across the avenue from the B & B. Nearly everything we wanted was in walking distance and when it wasn’t, there were plenty of cabs on the corner. Mary also hooked us up with Tours by Isabelle – awesome guides, fascinating tours. When we mentioned it to Mary, she called & set it all up. On our last day, Mary had our boarding passes printed out & arranged to have a taxi pick us up. All we had to do was enjoy our Banana Fritters & chilled fruit juice. We will definitely be returning to the Garlands!

My husband and I had a great stay at the Garlands Guest House in January. We have been to New Orleans several times and have stayed at a variety of places, including some of the big chain hotels. If you are looking for something more personal and with local flavor, we recommend this place. The rooms are very nicely decorated and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The neighborhood is not fancy, but it is right across the street from the French Quarter and so it is an easy (and safe) walk to the center of the fun. The hosts were great and available to help you with any tours, reservations or advice. They even made bloody marys and mimosas during breakfast one morning to some weary travelers! And the food was excellent, by the way!

My husband and I stayed at the Garlands guest house for our first wedding anniversary. We had a marvellous stay. The people who run it are so helpful and nice. For example, we asked for restaurant recommendations for our anniversary and they immediately showed us the menus for several of the best restaurant in town. Breakfast each morning was delicious and well worth getting up for. We stayed in the Monk's suite, which was beautiful. The Garlands is only a block away from the french quarter, so we were able to walk around with ease. We loved relaxing in the hot tub after a long day of walking the French Quarter. If we visit New Orleans again, we'll definitely stay here again.

The Garlands absolutely made our trip to New Orleans! The privacy offered by the property and landscape provided a very intimate atmosphere. The manager and staff were absolutely amazing, serving an exquisite breakfast every morning as well as other various accommodations. Apart from these great aspects of the Garlands as an entity, it is also only three blocks from Bourbon Street and other prime French Quarter attractions. If you are looking for a quiet cozy get away amongst the hustle and bustle of a busy vacation in a beautiful city The Garlands are for you!
