The Garlands absolutely made our trip to New Orleans! The privacy offered by the property and landscape provided a very intimate atmosphere. The manager and staff were absolutely amazing, serving an exquisite breakfast every morning as well as other various accommodations. Apart from these great aspects of the Garlands as an entity, it is also only three blocks from Bourbon Street and other prime French Quarter attractions. If you are looking for a quiet cozy get away amongst the hustle and bustle of a busy vacation in a beautiful city The Garlands are for you!

Absolutely Fantastic Trip!! My wife and I were married in the courtyard of the Garlands Guest House This December and we could not be more appreciative to Mary James and her wonderful staff for accomidating us with True 'Southern Hospitality" rare to find anywhere in the world these days. If You want to enjoy the true magic of New Orleans And the French Quarter then definetly stay at The Garlands. I know for fact my wife and I will return again and again.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Garlands for a wedding of our best friends. We had a party of 12 and could not have been happier at Garlands. Mary James is wonderful and can steer you to New Orleans, tourist or local. Our breakfast in the mornings were the best and the hospitality superior. The location is great, just a stroll to everything and I felt safe. The suites are beautifully done. We had an emergency and had to leave early - they couldnt have been more understanding and helpful - exactly what you hope to find when you choose this style of lodging versus a corporate hotel. Highly highly recommend this place - I can't wait to go back.

The Garlands Guest House was just lovely. The rooms were very nice, and the grounds were lush and beautiful. Breakfast both mornings was excellent. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The couple of blocks walk to the the French Quarter was no problem for my boyfriend and I, but a little tough for my mom (esp. in the heat). Something to keep in mind, but this in no way detracts from the Garlands' appeal. I highly recommend this B&B to anyone visiting NOLA.

My family recently stayed at the Garlands over the Thanksgiving holiday. The guest cottages and grounds are lovely - tastefully decorated with antiques, have hardwood floors, high ceilings, are clean and just plain charming. The breakfast is also fresh and very tasty. And the room rates are reasonable.

The neighborhood, however, is in total disrepair and was, frankly, kind of offputting [like much of the area around the French Quarter]. The property is also directly across the street from Armstrong Park. We rented a car and had easy access in and out of the secured parking, but when we took a cab we made sure the cabbie waited for us to get inside.

I do not recommend visiting N'Awlins for Thanksgiving weekend as the city hosts the Bayou Classic College Football game - AKA one big excuse for older kids to cruise up and down Canal Street in seriously pimped out cars for two days straight. It is complete pandemonium and incredibly frustrating getting anywhere around the downtown area.

If you have ANY trouble sleeping, request a cottage away from the street. We had the St. Louis cottage [which is really nice], but unfortunately, it is closest to the street and we heard a lot of racket.

Garlands Guest House will be changing owners around January 2005. I hope the new owners care for the property as much as the Garlands have as I would love to visit again. If not, I might try The House on Bayou Road or the W in the Quarter.
