“Epitomy of Great Customer Service”

HH Whitney House on the Historic Esplanade

5 of 5 stars
NEW ORLEANS
Feb 1, 2008

Having stayed in many 5 star hotels and B & B´s throughout the UK, Europe and USA, H H Whitney House - for us - beats them all! The owners, Glenn and Randy, are exceptional hosts and they go out of their way to think of extra touches to make you feel special and to welcome you to their beautiful historic home.

Glenn cooks fantastic breakfasts, hot and fresh from the adjoining kitchen and then served at the beautiful antique table adorned with cut glass and prestine tableware. H H Whitney House is decorated to reflect a "Gone With The Wind" ambience. You feel you should be wearing crinoline dresses and shouting "I don´t give a damn!". Absolutely wonderful.

My husband and I have been Corporate trainers for many years, specialising in customer service. If you want to experience customer service at the highest level, then go and stay with Glenn and Randy. Never mind all the training courses - just go and experience Whitney House and it will illustrate what you need to know about excelling in customer service. The word "disappointment" does not exist with Glenn and Randy!

We are just sad that because we live in Spain, it is too far to make regular visits to this oasis of calm and kindness. The exterior of the house disguises the wonderful interior waiting to welcome you. It is obvious how much this old house is loved by these two guys and the house seems to return the love back to its occupants.

After so many years of searching we have at last found a place that not only met, but exceeded our expectations and we certainly left a little of our hearts within HH Whitney House and also with Glenn and Randy who have provided us with wonderful memories. Thank you both so much!!!

I've been coming to New Orleans for a long time, but did a late booking for a New Year's Eve/Sugar Bowl trip this year for my girlfriend and myself, and stumbled on the HH Whitney House, a B&B on Esplanade between the French Quarter and the Fairgrounds. I will definitely be returning there. The host, Glen Miller, was about as gracious as they come. His breakfasts (particularly the waffle with fresh fruit) were imaginative, and the coffee good. On New Year's Eve, he thoughtfully provided a bottle of champagne for us.

The house itself is historic, and crammed with interesting acquisitions (my girlfriend particularly liked our room, the Scarlet O'Hara room, where the green velvet curtains were fascimilies of those Scarlet used to make her dress in Gone With the Wind). The bed was very comfortable. And there was wireless internet (which is sometimes hard to get in New Orleans).

The location is a relatively short walk from the French Quarter straight down Esplanade; you pass a lot of spectacular old houses. This was the swank part of town before the Garden District was ever built.

The B&B offers free offstreet parking--another thing sometimes hard to find in New Orleans. We paid something of a premium for a holiday stay, but I felt it was actually a bargain.

I gather much of Glen's business is repeat, and I can understand why.

“what a great place...”

HH Whitney House on the Historic Esplanade

Nov 9, 2007

booking a place to stay sight unseen is certainly a leap of faith.
all fears were put to rest as soon as we arrived. ( Late , I may add, however ,we were cheerfully welcomed.) The inn is brimming with beautiful antiques and the bedrooms are very homelike and comforting. The breakfasts were yummy and started our day on the right foot. The location was central for everything we wanted to do. Most importantly our hosts were wonderful. Offering advice and information with humor and wit, that we would have never gotten at a regular hotel. They made our stay unforgetable, as well as giving us an appreciation for the warmth and hospitality that all B&B owners should strive for.

My family & I stayed at The HH Whitney House for 2 nights during VooDoo Fest. It was a wonderful experience!!!! The house is beautiful. Glen met us outside when we drove up & was always very cordial & helpful. My children especially enjoyed the hot tub. It's in a great central location. The decor & all-around atmosphere are breathtaking. I would definitely stay here again!

My fiancee and I spent a wonderful four days at HH Whitney House. The owners are wonderful people, eager to make your stay more comfortable, knowledgeable about New Orleans, and willing to go that extra step to make your visit everything you want. We even got a personal 3 hour tour of the hurricane-devastated areas. The rooms were comfortable, the pool cold, and the hot tub hot. The location is nice - not too close the the French Quarter so that you have to listen to the crowds, but close enough that you can walk the pleasant Esplanade route in 15 minutes or take a taxi for $5. I recommend the B&B highly and will stay there again the next time I travel to New Orleans.
