To get to our room we had to walk up a steep stairway that had a
terrible musty smell-like wet dog. the bathroom was obviously added later
because you could not look in the mirror while using the sink. This is particularly inconvenient when brushing your teeth. The bed linen was hard and inexpensive and the small kitchen was stocked with clean, but extemely worn out dishware. When we made our reservations the lady was curt, but the night watchman and cleaning lady were kind and very welcoming.

We will NOTbe returning to Nine o Five on our yearly trip to new orleans.

The Nine-O-Five Royal is centrally located in the French Quarter with access to great restaurants, wonderful music and many attractions. The hotel is small, with charm, but without much fuss or complexity. The hotel is not high-tech, upscale or filled with amenities. It is just very pleasurable accommodations at a good rate.

The hotel staff is friendly, helpful and low key. You enjoy privacy and quiet here. There is a small kitchen for those who might like a meal at home. The one drawback is a very small bathroom, without much space for cosmetics or other items.

On the whole, this is a very nice place to stay in a lovely environment.

If you are used to all the amenities of a large-scale hotel then this is definately not for you. If you want something quiet at a great price (I paid 99$ a night for a queen bed I believe it was). It had basic cable, a/c, a full kitchen with coffee maker, great shower and nice bathroom. Large enough closet too. The only thing is, like I said, this is not for those that are used to having a restaurant or a spa in their hotel. (Either way the only hotel in New Orlean's french quarter with a spa is the Ritz). This is basically a room you rent for however long you want. Think of it more like an apartment than a hotel room, you just get your sheets changed and room cleaned. Wonderful staff, always kind! There is a night guard that sits on the porch and makes sure everyone is safe. You have a key to get into the gate inside the main gate, which is always locked at night (the nightman will open it for you ONLY if you are a guest) and another key for your room. Secure, quaint, and comfortable! Only complaint is for some reason I couldn't get my phone in my room to do local calls for AOL. Not a biggie. Just a few blocks (3) up the street is the Royal St. Cafe and Internet Cafe!
