“Loved the Hampton, great decor, clean rooms and yummy breakfast!”

Just got back from New Orleans, sin city, and had an absolute blast. Prior to our mini vacation I did a lot of hotel searching on TripAdvisor for a nice hotel under $100 close to the action of the French Quarter. Thankfully we found the Hampton Inn and Suites-Convention Center.

The hotel is fairly new with beautiful decor. The lobby was huge, full of big comfy chairs and couches. SO comfy in fact, we found 2 hotel guests sleeping on them at 1 am. Must have had a little too much fun on Bourbon Street!!! We reserved 2 rooms each with 2 double beds. We ended up getting two rooms both handicapped accessible, but one room was upgraded to a HUGE suite for the same price. We surely didn't mind. The room decor was cozy and colorful. These rooms were a steal at $98 with AAA.

We were also within walking distance to downtown (~1 mile), but far enough to get some sleep. We had no problems with parking and had 2 cars to valet. Oh...and the valet guys were awesome. Also, we loved the breakfast which was included in the room rate. It was a full breakfast with eggs, sauage, muffins, etc. Everything was warm and yummy thanks to the 3 employees that kept an eye on everything.

Overall, we had a great experience at the Hampton and would definitely stay there again!!

“Parking inadequacies abound!”

I had a horrible experience, one that may have me choose another hotel on my next frequent journey to New Orleans, LA. We were unable to valet at the Hampton Inn because of the inaquedencies of the valet system. We were told by the hotel that there were no available parking areas with valet because they had been allowing anyone to valet, regardless of affiliation to hotel. I had to park near the Hilton Hotel, and the Hampton hotel did not offer any apologies for my experience. This is the first time that I had ever visited a hotel that did not have any parking accomidations for me, and did not want to assist me in finding one. It is hard to believe that making reservations does not entitle you to parking near the hotel you are staying at, and to make matters worse, that the particular hotel you are staying at does not care to understand the situation.

“Love This Hotel, but a Bit Way”

Hampton Inn & Suites Convention Center

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. They have a wonderful breakfast.
I find it rare that hotels offer 5-6 different types of juices, 2 %, low fat, whole milk and any other type of beverages one can imagine.

Each morning there was a wide range each of : fresh fruit, pastry, breads, cereals, grits, pan cakes, waffle, you name it they had it, all except meats. My husband was told that they expect to add breakfast meats in the next few months.

Our room was on the fourth floor. We had a fridge and microwave. The view wasn't much but the room was comfortable with a hugh Rice Bed and a sleeper couch.

The #3 View Carre, a small bus which travels to the French Quaters dropped us off near the hotel and picked up up across the street atn the convention center.

The staff did not have knowledge of transit passes or the routes of the buses which passes the hotel. Transit passes can be purchased in the River Walk Mall at a small store. The cost was $5.00 for 1 day and 12.00 for 3 days of unlimited transit usage.

I would have rated this hotel excellent but, the staff should be a bit more knowledgeable of the transit system, since the #3 goes of duty at 7:10 p.m. Each night my husband and I walked several blocks to get back to the hotel. This hotel is in the warehouse district; I would not walk thru this area alone!

Billy, who works the front desk goes beyond the call of duty to help those who are staying at this site. Another asset is the breakfast hostess.

I have stayed at the Hampton Inn Convention Center five or six times over the course of the last 6 or 7 weeks. I love it. The rates are reasonable and it is well within walking distance to the Quarter and other attractions. The service is great and everyone from the front desk to the valet parking attendants are very friendly.I highly recommend it!

“Great ambiance at the Hampton Inn”

This hotel is a great value. It is close enough to the French Quarter to walk or take the streetcar or shuttle, but far enough away to be quiet at night. The buffet is great and the lobby has oldworld charm. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill Hampton Inn.
