One of my friends & I went for to New Orleans for a class reunion at a hotel near Bourbon St. But since I love Renaissance Hotels & found out this was 2 blocks away, this was my hotel!
The hotel website said the facade of the hotel was under renovation. No problem! I don't look at the outside. Also there was no noise.
It was a short walk (turn Right out the front door, Right on Dauphine St., pass Canal St. ) to the French Quarter. You would hit Bourbon St. if you turn Left out the front door. We wouldn't recommend that. There's a better view on Dauphine - a great Catholic church with exquisite architecture. As they say, stay with a group in NoLA. There are some possible worrisome locations but in general there's a lot of people walking around this neighborhood.
The room (1808) was nice - with 2 double beds - was nice & roomy. As always, the bathroom was large and LOVE the Lather brand toiletries.
Each of the floors was 'named' after a jazz artist. Our favorite was the 15th floor - named after NoLA's own Harry Connick Jr. That was fun.
Since I'm a Marriott Gold member, we got to hit the club room on the 19th floor. The host each time was very friendly and pleasant.
Our biggest gripe was the front office staff. They were - at times - not as warm as you would expect for a Renaissance. Almost like they didn't want to help you or we were bothering them.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay
