“It's ok if you don't expect much.”

Acadian Orleans Inn

We spent a few nights at the hotel around the fourth of July. A few short insights: - The bed was really rickety. We were worried about it collapsing (just from lying down). Not exactly a romantic experience. - The sheets were clean, but thin. - The bathroom was, basically, a disaster. The shower was a bit adventurous. Too bad that we weren't looking for adventure.

If you aren't looking for much, this hotel may be OK for you. But for the prices I would expect a bit more. I would not stay here again.

“I had a wonderful experience”

I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. We arrived on June 2, and checked out on the 4th of July. The location was perfect!
Just 1/2 a block away from the St. Charles car, and within walking distance to great stuff on Magazine Street. It has a cool little grocery store right across the street that had a lot of local charm and great prices. There was construction going on next door, but I didn't hear anything until I stepped outside. Besides, I didn't feel like it was the hotel's fault. The room was clean and AIR CONDITIONED, and very nice (no bad smells, etc.). The only thing I wish we had was a remote control, but then we did not go to N.O. to watch tv, so that was minor.

The staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. I had my dog with me, and the manager helped me find a wonderful kennel right down the street to board him. He even brought the hotel phone out for me to use so I didn't rack up roaming charges on my cell phone. He wrote me a map to make sure I didn't get lost, too.

Here's the bottom line regarding our stay at this hotel:

We are going back and staying there next year, too.

:)

We stayed here six nights during 2003 Jazz Fest.Feedback regarding our stay at the Acadian Orleans Inn Hotel New Orleans:To put it simply, the Acadian Orleans is by far the worst B&B we have ever stayed in. If it hadn't been Jazz Fest week we would have looked for other accomodations. And, we actually did try to get a room at nearby hotels. This place shouldn't even be called a B&B! There was absolutely nothing special about staying there, except that it was dirty, our sheets were NEVER changed, we had to ask for fresh towels, the "complimentary continental breakfast" consisted of stale pre-packaged bearclaws, mini-cereal boxes, plain dried out bagels, and a basket of fruit that never changed... we actually watched the bananas turn black during the week.I can't believe this place is rated with three stars! I get the feeling the brothes that currently run this place are new owners and do not have a clue about how to run a B&B. Our room was constantly chilled to freezing from the AC; which the manager could not control. My wife got two carpet tack punctures. There were missing tiles, broken windows and.... well, you get the idea.Bottom line, is this place does not deserve to be listed as a "good place to stay" by any reputable hotel booking service!Save yourself alot of grief and do NOT stay here!Tom & Janet Lalli (we spent six nights in this dump!)

“Do not go Here! Really!”

We came to this hotel for our honeymoon in October, 2002. When we arrived the place looked really cool, very gothic. We were given a room that was lovely. It was large and filled with antiques, and as an extra bonus it was right next to a church and we could sometimes hear the choir music drifting through our open window. The parking was on the street and it was free, which was great compared to staying in the French Quarter.Ok, that is everything that was good about the place. Now here is why I rated it as Terrible.1. I made my reservation and THOUGHT I paid for it 2 months in advance. I was told at the time that everything was confirmed, and my card would be charged. I called 2 days before we were to leave just to reconfirm the dates/directions/etc. and were told that not only had our credit card (checking account) not been charged, but they only had us down for one night, instead of 6! To their benefit, he said that he would do some tinkering around and would fit us in so we did not have to worry and would have a place to stay. At that time I reminded him that we were going to be on our honeymoon, and had made the reservation so far in advance because we wanted a nice room. This was also a bummer for us because we had thought that our hotel had already been taken out of our checking account and now we realized that we were going to have alot less money for our trip.2. About an hour after we arrived there, our toilet stopped working. We called the desk several times asking for help to fix it, but by the next morning it still wasn't fixed and we had to resort to filling up our coffee cups and dumping water into the toilet every time we had to go. Noone ever came to fix this during our entire time there.3. 2 days into our trip my husband's father unexpectedly passed away. Our family repeatedly called the Inn trying to get ahold of us from 6 pm through 9 am and there was no answer, no machine, nothing. Finally a cop showed up the next morning to tell us to call home.4. When we left early due to the death, we were assured that our money would be refunded to us right away. Not only did the Hotel NOT refund our money, but when we got our bank statement we found that we had been charged TWICE! We called them several times about this and each time was assured that our money was being returned. After 3 weeks of this I finally called my bank. They called him and had the same response with no results. We were lucky because the bank fought for us, and they ended up taking our money back from them.Do Not go here! They offer many promises but will never deliver, and if someone tries to reach you they will not be able to.

“Never Again”

Looks nice on the web site, but a few things they don't tell you:

1. It's next to a construction site. Construction begins at 7 a.m. LOUD construction.
2. The neighborhood is not good. Yes, it's a block off St. Charles. No, it's not off the quaint, pleasant part of St. Charles.
3. If you can't climb stairs, stay away.
4. The mattresses are wafer thin, the threadbare sheets feel and smell as if they are as old as the inn (150 years).
5. Old does not mean quaint. Old means rundown and musty.
