I flew down for a suprise proposal on my now fiance's vacation. The Hubbard Mansion was a beautiful location to celebrate our engagement.
The owner/operators are freindly and made my our stay comfortable. It was my first stay at a B&B, so I don't have a bunch to compare it to. I was concerned with other B&B's in NO based on others reviews on this site. This B&B sounded like the best bet for staying outside of the French Quarter.
The Hubbard Mansion is a great place for parents visiting Tulane University. It is on the trolley line between Tulane and the French Quarter. My fiance has a friend attending Tulane so we used the trolley on St Charles quite often. You can get an unlimited bus pass good for 3 days. The pass paid for itself and then some, and was nice way to see the city. I picked a pass up at a small grocery store on the corner of Jackson and St Charles, I believe. Larger hotels also sell the pass.
St Charles street in the Garden District is quiet enough to get a restful nights sleep after taking in the city's bars/clubs.
I stayed in the Queen Dell room. It has a jetted tub/shower, real nice antique furniture and a safe in each room. I need to write Rose at the Hubbard Mansion and ask her what they use for materesses and sheets. I slept like a baby, and missed it when I went home to my old bed. If I get a chance to go back to NO I will probably try the Victoria room. I had a chance to view that room and it was huge. Some day, some day.
Breakfast were great, and we met interesting people from around the country. The food gave us a good start to the rest of the day.
I have no reservation suggesting the Hubbard Mansion to travelers looking for someplace outside the French Quarter to rest at night.
Thanks to the Hubbard staff for making Jessah and my stay care free.
