I hadn't been to the Warehouse Arts district of New Orleans for several years. It becomes more and more interesting with art galleries, restaurants, and wonderful hotels - especially the Renaissance Arts. My luggage was lost on the way to N.O., and the hotel staff could not have been more helpful in giving me as many necessary items as they could, in directing me to the nearest Walgreens to buy more, and in doing all they could to make the stay as pleasant as possible. I didn't get my luggage until only a day before leaving, but was not too concerned about it, partly due to the efforts of the hotel staff to ensure my comfort.
The room was extra wide and roomy for one person. All fixtures and equipment worked well. The cotton robe was very much appreciated! The bed was very comfortable. The hotel was quiet -- my room looked out on an internal atrium, not on the street. The hotel restaurant was excellent -- the creme brulee is recommended for dessert. It was one of the best I've tasted.
The Renaissance Arts is just a few blocks from the French Quarter, Canal Street, the Convention Center, and the Mississippi River. It is in a converted warehouse, and the renovation must be fairly recent because everything looks very new and clean. There is modern artwork hanging all over, and some beautiful glass chandeliers in the lobby that look like they could have been designed by Dale Chihuly.
Overall, this is one of the best hotel stays I've experienced in a long time. I hope to stay there in the future, when my luggage is not lost. It would then be perfect!
