If you're looking for a spot smack dab in the middle of the Quarter, this is the place. A great location within walking distance of all the sites, with one side facing Bourbon St. The room itself was nothing special, pretty much what you'd expect. We didn't use the pool, located in an enclosed courtyard, but given the time, and a few more degrees, it would have been welcome. Don't expect free wireless, though there is a couple free-to-use PCs in the lobby. Parking is expensive ($20/day), but parking is a premium in the whole area. It was actually nice to let the valets take care of it...just give them about 10-15 minutes warning before you actually want to leave, since your car will be parked at one of two off-location lots, one 14 blocks away. Didn't try the hotel restaurant as there was plenty of other establishments to choose from in the area. Nothing outstanding, but wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

“Rooms incredibly noisy but beautiful ballroom”

The Bourbon Orleans Hotel

2 of 5 stars
Bay Area, CA
May 1, 2008

We went to a beautiful wedding there last weekend. The room was decent sized for NOLA, but there were several problems.
The worst were the paper-thin walls, if you're a light sleeper or don't party until the early hours, this is not the place for you. We heard every noise our neighbors made, even regular conversations carried through the walls. Also, even though our room was non-smoking, it smelled like it had been a smoking room for the past 30 years. We bought a fabreeze candle and it only partially helped with the odor. Finally there were other problems with the room such as the safe was not functioning (which is pretty important in a city like NO) and the cordless phone also didn't work. The swimming pool was not heated and mostly in the shade, so unless you go in the full heat of summer, its too chilly to swim.

“great for party not for privacy”

The Bourbon Orleans Hotel

Houston, TX

stayed here for a wedding. Great location to restaurants and bars, in the heart of the French quarter. The service however could be better. The front desk did not have maps handy and few knew their way around town. Room service knocked on our door three times before 9:30am on Sunday morning. The walls and doors are paper thin so we heard all hallway conversations and the discussions the couple next door had. The valet and bell boys were polite and prompt. There are other hotels near the action with better service, insulation and similar price.

“Pleasant Stay”

The Bourbon Orleans Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Manassas, Virginia

We loved the Bourbon Orleans. The location is perfect and noise was not a problem in our room. The room was not very big but it was comfortable and served the purpose. The decor was above average and the amenities fit the bill.

The best feature of the hotel (other than the location) is the great courtyard and pool. We loved it and can't wait to visit again.

“NEVER AGAIN”

TRY ANOTHER HOTEL FIRST. We must have had the same server in the hotel restaurant that the previous reviewer had!! She also had issues with timely serving. When our breakfast order (for 4) was finely taken and farrived, we had to remind her about the cream for our coffee yet again. When it was delivered in a chipped one serving pitcher, we were told to share it); told us to get the jellies from the next vacant table (when asking about jam) and that she had to handle room service next--perhaps making this her excuse for poor service?!! I think management may be short on staff and are putting the wrong people in the wrong jobs due to labor shortages right now? We had a confirmed reservation number for a king bed, but upon check-in, "computer" said queen, and there was no changing that--sorry! So we paid king rates for a queen bed because the computer said there was a king bed in the room?!! This was really irritating as the hotel had availability and their internet server had a "spring special" going on, as well as an advertised "queen" rate. Never called and offered to move us, even upon asking of king availability (due to the fact the computer said we had a king room??) They didn't even come down and check the room to see--very strange!! Employee attitude was poor. At the beginning of our stay, we kept trying to explain ourselves and ask for a manager, we were informed we had been speaking to the manager (one of the desk help)(?!). We were only staying 3 nights, and didn't want to fight with staff the entire trip, so quit even trying as the frustration would ruin the trip. Room service order arrived incorrectly (no croissants that day) so delivered what they wanted, no call to see what else we'd like (we didn't dare wait and see how long it would take to correct the order--so ate it as is). Its a shame, cause the room we had (looking at the pool) was quiet and nicely furnished, great location, but I'd never stay there again.....if you do, get everything in writing prior to your stay, don't rely on the confirmation number.
