“It is what it is.”

St. Peter House Hotel

Well...after reading the reviews I understand the extremes. It IS in a good location-3 blocks from Burbon Street-but on the north side of the French Quarter-keeps it cheap but some walking to get south of Burbon. Some rooms are big (ours was a large 2 bedroom suite) some are really small (I saw one getting cleaned that could barely fit a bed!). The front desk was hit or miss...either super helpful or clueless. Housekeeping did not show the first day but did the second but not the third. For what we paid in a room that fit 6 people easily we were happy. We had a semi-private entrance, a balcony and a fridge and microwave. BUT I felt more like we were staying at a friends house than at a hotel or bed and breakfast. Or a nice hostel. The decor is rather threadbare but we felt safe and the linens were clean even if the floors were not. Bring extra socks or slippers for the dirty floors (tile), bring shampoo and conditioner, bring a hairdryer and bring earplugs due to the old window unit air conditioners being loud. If you do that while thinking how little you spent on the room you will be happy.

Exposed wiring, faulty plumbing, windows painted shut, rotting floor boards on balcony. The list goes on and on. Stay somewhere else!

“Loved it - Definitely coming back”

St. Peter House Hotel

I loved my two-night stay at St. Peter's and agree with the many glowing reviews on this site. The location is perfect of course. And in my room, 33, the bed was sound and comfortable, the linens were spotless. Plenty of storage space in the closet. The floors, the (big) bathroom, etc. were sparkling clean, corners and all. The staff are friendly, smiling, knowledgeable and entirely professional.

I'm puzzled by reviews that complain that St. Peter's is old and not a cookie-cutter Holiday Inn-type place. Well...it's an 1805 building on the National Registry of Historic Places, in the French Quarter of New Orleans. It's not a McDonald's.

I'm thrilled that we have the opportunity not just to admire the beauty and style of these lovely buildings from the outside, but to actually get to stay in those such as St. Peter's whose owners and caretakers work hard to maintain historical integrity while modernizing up for our pleasure. I look forward to my next stay at this delightful hotel.

“Great Location - Terrible Hotel”

Blood stains on the comforter. Cigarette burns on the sheets. Unidentifiable stains on pillow cases. Dead cockroaches under bed. Very uncooperative management. That's just for starters. Their website is VERY misleading. Rooms looked to be ROOMY on the site. But when we arrived - they are very small. And look NOTHING like the pictures.

We'd leave for the day in the morning, then arrive back at the hotel around 5pm, only to find that our room hadn't been cleaned. (new towels - bed made). The bed linen was disgusting. When we asked for a replacement blanket - the other one was WORSE!

Yeah, It's kinda quaint in an old run-down and dangerous kind of way because of the collapsing balcony and staircase, and yeah, it's in a great location in the French Quarter, but man oh man, do these people not care about providing decent, and clean linen for the rooms. They had brand new flat screen TVs put in prior to us arriving, but with no remote. They seem put out when we asked for one. Got one. A brand new one Still in the box. We had to program the damn thing for it to work with the TV in the room.

It was a roof over our head - we got some free danishes and coffee - and we got to watch "Wizard Of Oz". Other than that, it wasn't a pleasant experience. I will not be staying there again.

“Very small, very run down.”

We started out with problems over reservations, it all went downhill from there. Management was very disagreeable. The room we were given was tiny. A corner room on the second story around 8ft. by 10 ft. (if that large) with a double bed and one small armoire not large enough to store anything in and only with those two pieces of furniture there was very little room to move around the bed. The balcony and stairs were in such a state of disrepair I was afraid to walk on them.
