“Nice Renovated Hotel, A Little Bit Further Walk from Everything”

Wyndham Riverfront

3 of 5 stars
Houston, Texas

Location: Location is the most important thing I look for in a hotel. Even though the Wyndham Riverfront is located near everything, it is a few blocks futher away than some of the other national chain hotels in the area. A few blocks may not seem like much, but if you're walking to the french market 2 or 3 times a day, than the distance can really wear on you. The hotel is about 2 blocks from Harrahs Casino, 5 blocks from the french quarter, 9 blocks from bourbon street, and 9 blocks from the french market.

Rooms: The hotel has been recently renovated so the rooms felt very new. Sheets and bedding were comfortable and clean. Features and trims were semi contemporary. Bath felt a little on the small side.

Staff: Service was above average. Front desk always greeted us when we cam down from the elevator. Concierge was very helpful and couteous. Although bellboy could use some more training.

Restaurants: The restaurant looked very nice, but we did not eat there.

Amenities: I was told the hotel has a nice fitness gym, but I did not get a chance to use it. The hotel does not have a pool which would have been nice.

Summary: Overall, the hotel was nice to stay in especially with it appearing newer and the recent renovations. I would have given it a 4 if it wasn't for the extra blocks we had to walk to get everywhere. Location is very important and the location of the Wyndham Riverfront is below average considering the other chain hotels in the area.

Be careful of valet parking, they will charge you $29 a day. You can park next door at the Harrahs Casino and receive a park voucher if you play in the casino. Good luck!

“Great Rooms, but no 'free' parking”

This hotel is a old building but has been restored to a beautiful hotel. Our room was great, clean and cool in the New orleans heat. The staff was very nice and helpful. The only thing I was upset about, was when I booked the room I was told about the valet parking (this is the only parking for the hotel, you can,t park yourself) but was not told until we got out of our car about the $28.00 per night fee for valet parking. Needless to say I left my bags in the lobby and went to park my car in the Casino,s parking lot next door for free.

“Couldn't Be Better!!”

This hotel has been simply perfect! Everyone from the valet parking guy, to he front desk, to the employees in the restaurant were very friendly. Housekeeping did an amazing job everytime they came in. The room itself was to die for! Upon checking in, I was upgraded to a two story suite! I loved it. The breakfast was wonderful at 7 on Fulton (this was also included in my price). I paid 99.00 a night and got free valet parking and breakfast!! I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

“The best Place To Stay”

Wyndham Riverfront

While surfing the web we got this awesome A#1 hotel for about 80.00 per night. We stayed two nights, got free valet parking and free breakfasts for two days, anything on the menu for free. The food was EXCELLENT. The staff was awesome. the room was clean. The beds and the room smelled wonderfully fresh. The desk clerk was extremely friendly and helpful.
I have never stayed at a motel that I was so totally 100% satisfied with until we stayed at this one. My daughter and I felt very secure and safe here. Directly across from the Riverwalk. If we ever go back to new Orleans, this is the place we will stay again. The bell boy was very frienldy and so were the attendants parking the cars. You WILL like this place.

“Nothing to Rave about OK in my ESTIMATION.”

First I want to mention that I got a hotel room at this place free from Harrah's for 3 nites, so you can't beat that. We came in to NOLA on a Saturday and stayed at a different hotel on the edge of the Quarter, I absolutely loved (see other review). After brunch on Sunday we checked into the Riverfront. I just remember that our room was quite a walk from the elevator up some stairs and down some stairs, however the front desk warned us. There were 3 of us. Husband, myself and 12 year old daughter. The room held 2 double beds. Needless to say, double beds don't cut it for my husband and me, but hey it was free I can't complain. What I can complain about is maid service. One day they were so late, we just decided to forego the maid service and the other days they came to clean around 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. even though we were gone, out of the hotel every morning. No refrigerators in room either. The front desk was very nice and the hotel is in proximity to a lot of different places. But I'll think twice about staying here again.
