Location: Location is the most important thing I look for in a hotel. Even though the Wyndham Riverfront is located near everything, it is a few blocks futher away than some of the other national chain hotels in the area. A few blocks may not seem like much, but if you're walking to the french market 2 or 3 times a day, than the distance can really wear on you. The hotel is about 2 blocks from Harrahs Casino, 5 blocks from the french quarter, 9 blocks from bourbon street, and 9 blocks from the french market.
Rooms: The hotel has been recently renovated so the rooms felt very new. Sheets and bedding were comfortable and clean. Features and trims were semi contemporary. Bath felt a little on the small side.
Staff: Service was above average. Front desk always greeted us when we cam down from the elevator. Concierge was very helpful and couteous. Although bellboy could use some more training.
Restaurants: The restaurant looked very nice, but we did not eat there.
Amenities: I was told the hotel has a nice fitness gym, but I did not get a chance to use it. The hotel does not have a pool which would have been nice.
Summary: Overall, the hotel was nice to stay in especially with it appearing newer and the recent renovations. I would have given it a 4 if it wasn't for the extra blocks we had to walk to get everywhere. Location is very important and the location of the Wyndham Riverfront is below average considering the other chain hotels in the area.
Be careful of valet parking, they will charge you $29 a day. You can park next door at the Harrahs Casino and receive a park voucher if you play in the casino. Good luck!
