“Conveniently located”

Gaslight Inn

3 of 5 stars
Port Angeles, Washington

My friend Mark and I wanted lodging close to the gay district and this certainly fit the bill. We also wanted seperate beds but this establishment doesn't offer this amenity. They only offer single doubles, queens or king size beds with rates going up accordingly from $98 plus taxes. Although located on a busy street room 208 faced the next house which had a nice pond. The queen size bed was comfortable, ample towels, lotions were provided and the bars of soap were superb! A tiny 15" flat screen TV was provided but only short periods of watching time recommended to avoid severe headaches from eye strain! The continental breakfast consisted of coffee or tea, scones, pastries, juice, yogurt and fresh fruit. The propriator was helpful and we were allowed to check in early on a Friday afternoon. My only concern was that the shared bathroom's shower's tile was not cleaned properly and the water pressure wasn't strong enough. The living, dining and kitchen facilities were excellent and provided a nice homey feeling. Located just a few blocks from good eateries and bars this was a decent choice for a 1 night stay.

“More Bed than Breakfast”

We stayed at the Gaslight Inn in October. The room itself was fine, although I would have preferred the bathroom have a door. The location was great, and the place was clean and well kept up.

What soured us was the owner/proprietor. I would not say he was rude so much as abrupt, he treated us more like a nuisance to be tolerated rather than guests. I was under the impression that we had booked a Bed & Breakfast but the Breakfast was lacking the first day and non existent the second.

So, if you get a discounted rate to make up for the lack of a meal, and don't mind squeaky floors and a cold proprietor then this may be the place for you. We will be looking for other lodging on our next stay in Seattle.

“Nice Houce in a Nice Area”

Gaslight Inn

3 of 5 stars
Peterborough England
Sep 3, 2007

We stayed here for three nights after travelling for over 24 hours. The inn keeper was very accomodating in accepting an arrival so late (around midnight) however this had been pre arranged so that we could let ourselves in and find our room on our own.

Parking at the Gaslight inn can be a problem in that there is only kerb side parking and there is not enough of it. Also the kerb side parking is limited to 2 hours. The Gaslight in has parking permits however when we asked for one we were told we would get one when someone checked out. Three days later all the guests had changed but we never did get a parking permit. This wasnt a problem as we used the parking lot one block away at a disused church. The is free parking are the parking meter has recently been taken away.

The Gaslight in is a very nice house, which is very spacious and very clean. The house is on the bus route into downtown so no need to worry about walking, however it does only take 15 mins to walk into downtown as it just about all down hill. We felt very safe walking this route both in the day and at night.

The inn keeper was very helpful in providing maps so that we quickly manged to get our barings to be able to explore this wonderful city. Its a shame the innkeeper didnt sit an drink coffee with us at breakfast time as im sure the guests would discover much more useful information.

I would use the Gaslight inn again however its not the typical B&B in that it feels more like a hotel than someones home.

“Very uncomfortable experience”

Gaslight Inn

We had a very uncomfortable experience with the Gaslight Inn. They had confused our arrival date and were very rude to us in their insistence about it. We were told that we were to be charged for the day we were "supposed" to have arrived. When we forwarded the emails from them which stated our actual arrival dates, our follow up phone call to them resulted in their hanging up on us. We didn't know if they would accept our reservation or charge us for the "extra day" until we actually arrived at the Inn on the pre-arranged date. We were let in to the Inn and our room by one of the Inn's workers/housecleaners. At no time during our stay did we receive an apology or even a greeting from the owners/managers. There are many rules for the guests who stay at the Inn and the morning breakfast was dissappointing. Having looked forward to staying at the Gaslight Inn for some time, this was a very dissappointing experience.
