“Nice Stay - Good Location”

Comfort Suites Downtown / Seattle Center

Jun 22, 2007

We stayed here before and after our cruise to Alaska. The room was clean and the breakfast was sufficient.

The location was great for us. It was a few blocks to the Space Needle and Monorail. We took the Monorail downtown and did some shopping.

I definatley suggest taking the car service to the airport. It was $30 so it was cheaper than a cab and the airport shuttle charges $37.

The hotel does have a shuttle and they will take you to the market place which I highly recommend.

The staff was great to us. They held our bags for us when we went shopping before we got on our cruise and they held our bags when we arrived back at 9:00 am and there weren't rooms available yet. The three days we were there the hotel was completely booked. The noise wasn't too bad but some people feel the need to slam doors and talk loudly in the halls when they are coming in late or leaving early. This is why I always bring my earplugs.

I would definately recommend this place. You can't beat the price compared to other hotels in the area.

“Good, comfortable, but not great”

Comfort Suites Downtown / Seattle Center

3 of 5 stars
Swansea, Illinois
Jun 17, 2007

We stayed at the Comfort Suites June 12-16th. This hotel is a bit out of of the core downtown area but very convenient to the Monorail, the Space Needle and the Experience Music Project/Science Fiction Museum. You could easily spend a day at the Space Needle and EMP/SFM and right now $15 covers the EMP and Science Fiction Museum (two for one price). We took the monorail downtown to shopping and walked to Pikes Market. I have to say I was surprised at the $4 round trip/adult price tag for the approx. 1 mile Monorail ride!

Anyway, about the hotel...First, the room was not a suite. It was a standard two double-bed room. It did have a small fridge and microwave. The bathroom was spacious and very clean with plenty of towels. Water pressure in the shower was great. Beds were quite comfortable, not too soft, not too firm.

The heat/AC unit was really odd...it looked brand new with programmable settings but it had the most unusual sound...like a raging tornado just outside the window! It kept me awake every night we were there, but I am a very light sleeper!

There is not a restaurant on site but there are a quite a few nearby (a terrific mediterranean restaurant is west of the hotel), plus a grocery store around the corner. One evening we were simply sick of eating out at restaurants, not terribly hungry, so we went to the grocery and purchased some ready-made sandwiches and sodas and ate outside the hotel in the courtyard out back.

There is a complimentary continental breakfast in the lobby which consisted of cold cereals, oatmeal, sausage patties, make-them-yourself waffles, fruit and some breakfast danish, along with coffee, juice and hot tea. It was OK...very crowded and difficult to find a place to sit, but they do allow you to take the food back to your room if you desire. There is free coffee in the lobby all day.

The personnel who worked there were kind of blase...not overly friendly but not rude either. We checked out very early Saturday morning (5 am) and the gal at the front desk would not give me a receipt for our stay! She printed it out, let me look at it to make sure it showed all charges correctly and a $0 balance, but she would not let me keep the copy, she kept saying that I needed to get it from the website. I could not understand this procedure, tried to explain to her that it was most definitely common practice when checking out to receive a receipt (she spoke very broken English). However, after several minutes of this, I dd not have time to argue with her as we needed to leave for the airport right away. I'll call customer service to have them fax me a copy and I will be keeping an eye on my credit card statement online to make sure nothing else is charged to my card.

Overall, it was an average hotel, nothing to write home about. It was clean, up to date and reasonably priced compared to others in Seattle (we paid $145/night for Tues and Weds. and $162/night for Thurs and Friday). Inside parking is free which is a nice bonus (some hotels we checked charged $25/day to park).

“Great Location but Nothing Special”

Comfort Suites Downtown / Seattle Center

3 of 5 stars
san jose ca
Jun 11, 2007

We stayed here one night while visiting Seattle to see a concert at the Key Arena. We were hoping to stay closer to downtown but found everything booked or way out of our price range. Our room here for this particular night was (including taxes) $160.

Check-in was no hassle. The staff, though not rude, were not particularly helpful or friendly. We asked for some simple directions to walk to the monorail at Seattle Center and it was like pulling teeth and we later learned that the directions were woefully incomplete. But since the Space Needle is so obvious on the horizon, we were able to find our way despite the lack of help.

Although it is called Comfort "Suites," our room was just a standard one with two double beds. There was nothing suite-like about it. For the price, the room was basic in the extreme. However, it was clean and the beds comfortable. The lobby is nicely appointed and they offer free coffee throughout the day. There is a breakfast included with the stay but we did not avail ourselves of it, so no opinion there. They also offer a free shuttle by appointment. The next morning we asked the staff to arrange for a taxi to the airport and they recommended a private car which ended up being much more comfortable and a little less expensive than our taxi ride in.

The location is great, especially if you are attending an event at the Seattle Center (walking distance). The monorail will whisk you into downtown in two minutes. If you are looking for luxury or top-drawer service, this is not the place. But for a good, basic, well-located Seattle accomodation, this is fine.

“Great location and beautiful mid-May weather.”

Comfort Suites Downtown / Seattle Center

As first time visitors to Seattle, my husband and I were thoroughly satisfied with the hotel accomodations. We were given a great rate of $126/night. We're used to paying more than $200/night in any other big city. We had a quiet room on the fourth floor, found the hotel staff to be quite friendly and helpful, the extensive continental breakfast to be a bonus since there are no restaurants nearby, and the location ideal since we had decided ahead of time not to rent a car. Due to the wonderful weather (no rain), we were able to venture all over the city by foot. I always say you get a real sense of the city that way. We were thrilled that there were two 24 hour markets, QFC & Metropolitan, located nearby, where we bought our bottled water, evening cocktails, snacks, and even some Seattle goodies to take home with us. The hotel offers a shuttle service to the downtown area that we took a couple of times. Otherwise there's the monorail, only a couple of blocks away. The hotel also arranges towncar service to and from the airport. It's cheaper than a taxi.

    • Disliked — One of the two computers in the tiny business center (closet) wasn't working. No air in the business center.

“Incompetent staff”

Our stay at this hotel was marred by incompetent and uncaring staff who failed to pass on messages, failed to properly arrange transfers to the airport and generally showed a lack of care in their duties. On the day we left they also probably cause some patrons to miss their link with the railways. The venue was fair despite offering a kitchen that had no facilities or utensils. It marred our stay in Seattle.
