“Possibly the Nicest Hotel in Seattle”

Grand Hyatt Seattle

Dec 7, 2007

I have been to Seattle about 5 times. This last time, my stay was at the Grand Hyatt. This hotel is among the nicest at which I've ever stayed. The rooms each have a cordless phone and the shower was marble with a glass door. The elevators are away from all rooms, it seemed, so there was not much noise. Everything at this hotel costs money, however, including ice. It did get quite old to call room service for ice. The room had a beautfiul view, nice bed, and a doorbell. I felt like I was staying in a suite but was told I was not. The room had a separate tub, also marble surrounded. The place was immaculate. Centrally located for tourists and conventions (right across from convention center), yet peacefully quiet. If you can afford the high rates at this hotel, or get a good deal, I strongly recommend this hotel. I have stayed at the Westin, Sheraton, and others that are not worth mentioning. This, by far, is the nicest. It rivals any Ritz Cartlon we've stayed at, that is for certain.

    • Liked — Peaceful oasis amongst loads of noise, crime, and pollution (Seattle).
    • Disliked — Calls to room service necessary even for simple things like ice, no ice machines. Everything costs money at this hotel.

“Loved the Hyatt”

Based on reviews on tis site, we stayed at the Hyatt 11/30-12/2. It is a great property in downtown Seattle. Barney's, Nordstrom's and lots of other shopping is within two blocks. It is a short walk to Pike Market.

The staff was incredible. When we got back to the hotel Saturday afternoon, the room still wasn't made up. We called downstairs and let housekeeping know we were going to the gym, and needed the room made up right away. No problem!

Our requests for ice, towels, etc were handled promptly and courteously.

We had a corner room, which was big. However, I'm not sure I'd book another room like this, since you have to keep the curtains closed to block out light from the street (not to mention for privacy).

My husband and I both worked out at the gym. They have everything you can imagine there -- freeweights, weight machines, ellipticals, bikes, treadmills, etc. They even have exercise balls and body bars. They had more equipment in the gym than any other hotel I've stayed at, including a Four Seasons.

We will definitely stay at the Hyatt again the next time we're in Seattle.

“Wonderful hotel in a great location”

Grand Hyatt Seattle

4 of 5 stars

We stayed here for the final 3 nights of our 5 day anniversary trip. My husband and I were highly impressed with the front desk staff, especially the concierge - who by the way, recommended great restaurants. Our travel agent must have requested two queen beds, but when we checked in they saw it was our anniversary and asked if we wanted a king. Of course we did! And they were very happy to oblige and we ended up in a great room with a king bed. The view from the room was great - although there was a lot of construction going on. The bathroom was immaculate and I loved the turn down service every night (including a bucket of ice AND chocolates on the pillow!!)

We loved the location of The Hyatt - we parked the car and walked everywhere. It was so close to anything you'd want to see - Pike's Market, shopping, The Underground, the waterfront and ferry's, etc. It was also close to a lot of great restaurants. The concierge recommended Wild Ginger to us (a Pan-Asian restaurant). It was FABULOUS! We absolutely loved it - but get reservations ahead of time or you may be waiting for awhile. There is also a cheesecake factory around the block, which we liked because it was something familiar for that first day.

Ruth's Steakhouse is attached to the hotel and we ordered from their our last night and brougt to our room. We weren't very hungry but didn't want to be starving at midnight, so we ordered their lobster bisque and some BBQ shrimp. I'm sorry to say I was severely disappointed. How hard is it to make those things? I didn't enjoy them at all! I wish we had just dragged ourselves out of our room to go to a restaurant, but we were exhausted from our day of walking around.

The biggest complaint I had was the cost of parking. It was absolutely ridiculous. Although, I'm assuming most downtown hotels would be about the same. We pre-paid for the hotel before we left, so we weren't expecting much of a bill. We did get Wild Hogs on demand in the room ($14.99 for a movie?!?), but other than that the only thing on our bill was parking and the cost came out over $100 for 3 nights! We were shocked. I believe it was $31 plus several taxes per night to park. The parking is really the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars and not 5.

Anyway, the hotel was very clean and comfortable and the staff was very nice. The location is superb and I would definitely stay here again (but I would look at using a car service to and from the airport so to not pay the ridiculous parking fee).

“One of the best Seattle hotels”

Grand Hyatt Seattle

Nov 5, 2007

We had a third visit to the Grand Hyatt, once again for business. It's proximity to the Convention Center is great, and this hotel is much nicer than the Sheraton which is a wee bit closer. We have had excellent, exemplary service here and appreciate it in this current environment.

We booked an Executive suite with an adjoining room, which happened to be another corner suite. The combination is great for a family. The Executive suite has a small bar with sink, refrigerator, etc, as well as a second bathroom off of the sitting area. The corner suite has a work area, a long hallway, then a bedroom with wall to floor windows on 2 walls. Bathrooms have great soaking tubs with waterfall faucets, separate dressing areas, and aveda amenities. We were on the concierge floor, with access to a lounge with concierge (very nice and helpful lady), internet service, good breakfast, sodas, fruit, water, and hot snacks, a good cheese selection and drinks at night. There's always espresso, coffee and mochas available as well, which is a favorite in our family.

Room service is quick and efficient. The location, again, is good for the convention center or shopping. There are many good restaurants within walking distance, and if you don't want to eat breakfast in the concierge lounge try to get the b and b package; it includes a hearty breakfast in the adjacent Ruth's Chris steakhouse.

Parking is expensive, valet or self, but that's unfortunately par for Seattle. The furniture is a bit worn, with the occasional stained pillow or scraped desk. The bed was very bad, the worst I've slept on in a long time - had we been there longer I would have requested some kind of stabilizing board under the mattress.

“Best Hotel in Seattle”

I stay in Seattle a few times every month. I have had the opportunity to stay at several hotels on the Tripadvisor list, from cheap to boutique. For the money, the Hyatt Grand is the best deal. It has the nicest amenities and friendly staff. The hotel is excellently furbished and has a 24 hour gym.
