“The Grand Hyatt Seattle corner suite isn't so grand!”

Grand Hyatt Seattle

We stayed at The Grand Hyatt Seattle for 3 days between Christmas and New Years. We chose this hotel based upon location for shopping and trip advisor reviews for a luxury weekend without the kids. Last time to Seattle, we stayed at The Waterfront Marriott for 2 nights before an Alaskan cruise, and I must say we both liked the Marriott overall much better than the Hyatt. We had a corner suite at The Hyatt and the layout was really weird. There is a small entryway leading into the living room. The living room had the most uncomfortable sofa, a matching chair,(both scratched and worn) mini bar and a desk and chair. One wall was floor to ceiling windows and one small panel the size of a large mailbox at floor level was the only opening window in the whole suite! And this was a smoking suite!!!! There was a very narrow hallway with closets on the left where the windows would be and the bathroom off to the right. The problem with the clostes is that if you have one of the closet doors open, the other person in the room cannot pass to go back and forth between the living room, bathroom or bedroom without closing all the closet doors. This is a very bad design flaw and we would never book a corner suite here for this reason again. The bathroom was large, clean and very nice. Separate shower, tub and lots of marble. It was the only part of the suite which lived up to The Grand Hyatt reputation. The bedroom was small (comfortable king bed, 2 nightstands, 1 chair and a dresser with a tv on top) and had 2 walls of floor to ceiling windows. Unfortunately you had to close the curtains completely if you wanted privacy as there was a new building going up across the street and the crews could and would look right in. On a postive note, the corner bedroom was incredibly quiet. Ruth Cris is their hotel restaurant and even though you can charge it to your room, you do NOT accrue Gold Passport points for dining there. Unfortunately my husband and I lost each other in Nordstrom and upon returning to the Hyatt, the front desk would not give me a key to our suite. Apparently our reservation was under his name and even though it was for a party of 2 and I had my ID AND the credit card which was the same one that they had taken an imprint of from me at check in, they still would not let me in until he arrived. I was a bit miffed to say the least. If you stay here, make sure the front desk has each persons name on the reservation in case you get locked out. Registering as Mr and Mrs is not enough.

“The good and the bad”

Grand Hyatt Seattle

We stayed the night on 2/16. We are locals who just came into the city to break up a long weekend with our teen. I booked this hotel based on our teen wanting to stay in a "large" hotel. I booked the Emerald Suite and was not disappointed. It was a beautiful room with sweeping views of Lake Union and the Sound.

I asked for an early check in and we arrived at 3 only to find out our room wasn't ready. So....we used the valet and decided to walk around town. The three of us were headed down seventh avenue when we heard this amazing ROAR....

I was stunned as my car (a Porsche) was going from 0-100 in a half of a block to the parking garage in front of me. Our fourteen year old is standing there going "Mom, that's your car"...my husband is in stunned silence and not a happy camper.

I talked to the night manager who said that they "contract" their valet parking out and that sometimes the garage is full. Total bologne as this had nothing to do with that. A punk took my car out and rodded it. I am not at all happy with how management handled this situation....free parking? Yes. But..how unprofessional to drive someone's car like that?

I ordered champagne and strawberries as it was my husband's birthday...nothing was there so I had to call and ruin the "surprise".

All in all...I would go to Hotel 1000 or Hotel Andra over this place after our experience with service.

The location is good for shopping but had I not used Hyatt points I would have been even more vocal.

The icing on the cake was when the valet on Sunday said..."Mamm, we don't hot rod cars"....so he called me and my family liars as we watched my car fly down the road. Unbelievable.

“Great Hotel Choice”

Grand Hyatt Seattle

Stayed one night on a business trip. This was a great hotel and I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Seattle.

Check-in was easy. Room was large and very comfortably furnished. Bed and linens provided a great nights rest. The bathrooms was outstanding. Large and clean, the bathroom had one of the largest stand-up shower I've ever used. Flat screen tv was a great touch and the chair/ottoman was a great place to unwind and watch the tv. I ordered room service and was satisfied, although, like many hotels, was very pricey.

Location is great - walking distance to everything in town and Pike Place and either a good walk or short cab to Belltown and all the bars and restaurants located there.

I would definitely consider the Grand Hyatt for my next Seattle visit.

“Good place to stay”

Grand Hyatt Seattle

My stay at the Grand Hyatt was for 6 nights. The hotel is nicely situated right on the edge of Downtown - close enough to be within easy walking distance of all the main attractions, but just far enough out to be in a quiet location. The rooms are pretty standard considering the price, but nicely furnished and clean all the same, with comfortable beds. The marble bathroom however is very impressive with a separate bath and shower. The hotel restaurant had a good, reasonably priced breakfast choice, but I wouldn't recommend eating here in the evening - had a very average steak and the service wasn't very good either. Another complaint is that internet access isn't free (and is actually really expensive), and the "Business Center" consists of only one computer! These are just minor gripes though which didn't spoil a pleasant stay.

the grand hyatt....
simply one of the most beautiful i ve ever stayed in ..
the location: right in the heart of downtown seattle
a huge and luxurious lobby the hotel is big but yiou do not feel it it remains a rather very quiet hotel and the staff is very helpful and friendly
the room: big with a great bed and for many rooms a magnificient view of the city luxurious and modern furniture
the bathroom: the best !!!! very big beautiful design and materials
i d love to add some bad points to this hotel but i haven't seen any.... well maybe the breakfast with no buffet but that isn 't a big problem ( for buffet lovers avoid the hotel for the breakfast ) and the room service is quite expensive as well
