“Stopover before a cruise”

Days Inn Downtown

Jun 2, 2008

We (family of 4) stayed at this hotel as a stop over before a cruise. The hotel was prompt picking us up at the airport when we arrived and taking us to the nearby train depot (for the train trip to Whittier, where our cruise ship was departing from) when we departed.

As far as the stay at the hotel...
We had requested a roll away bed when we booked the room, and when we arrived they brought it promptly to our room. We have had problems at other hotels either not having the requested roll away bed or taking a long time to bring it to the room.

Because of the hotel's location in downtown there were a couple street people loitering in the coffee area one morning. When the hotel staff member noticed them she quickly and politely got them to leave.

One of the downsides is that no breakfast included. However, the rooms were comfortable and in good condition as was the hotel in general. I would recommend the hotel for people looking for a good mid priced hotel who are planning to stay a day or two.

“Not Bad but not that Good.....”

Got a good rate by booking online, but if you need to change or cancel for any reason, they will not give you a refund. The location is way down town and nearest place to buy snacks is far away. They don't even have a gas station to buy snacks near by. It is by a main street and is noisy with traffic. The room I stayed in is not bad, looks like a newly renovated room but the tv has a constant buzzing noise and the picture quality is not so good on some channels. Several times the tv went completely blank. The bars of soap and shampoo bottles are very tiny, hand soap finishes after a couple of washes and shampoo is good for only 1 use. You have to ask for them everyday. The room has a nice size fridge and a microwave though. nice to re-heat left over dinners for lunch.

“Awful service”

My daughter and I stayed at Days Inn in Downtown Anchorage and was impressed only with the view. The desk clerk and wait staff at the restaurant were incredibly rude and I even wrote the manager to tell him/her of our experience. It's been almost two months since our stay and letter and not even a decency to respond to our letter. I was extremely disappointed and hope that others will prefer good customer service over a high rise view with nothing more.

“A bleak experience”

Days Inn Downtown

Shacked up here for a night after arriving on a post-midnight flight from Portland. The only nice part of the hotel was the lobby, which you had to buzz the concierge just to get in the hotel after hours. The "non-smoking" room was anything but. There were easy-to-trip-over power cords on the floor, and some even *painted over* on the walls. The air conditioner didn't work.

All in all, not a pleasant experience. The room might be cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for.

“Worst hotel ever....”

Days Inn Downtown

1 of 5 stars
Akron, OH
Aug 6, 2007

My family and I stayed here prior to going on a cruise. This hotel is very outdated. The room was just big enough to hold the two very worn double beds. Although a "non-smoking" room, people can smoke just outside your door. The lobby is supposed to be smoke free too, but they regularly came into to light their cigarettes. There is no food service as well, only coffee. There is a Country Kitchen accross the street, but it is nothing special. Avoid this hotel at all cost. I normally stay at hotels in the class of a Hampton Inn or Fairfield Inn. This hotel make them seem like the Ritz. By far the worst hotel I've ever had the misfortune of using.
