“Decent place to stay”

Best Western Lighthouse Inn and Resort

I'd say this is an ordinary hotel, nothing special, but not bad either. Just...ordinary. Beds were fine, bathroom was fine, room was clean, breakfast was normal continental (sweet rolls, bagels, juice, etc), staff seemed nice enough. Two perks, though, were the spacious room with the unexpected mini fridge (good for milk for our baby), and the balcony with the pretty view of Lake Mead. It's an easy, short drive to Hoover Dam. Of the hotels available in Boulder City, I'd say this is one of the better ones. If we're in the area again, I'd have no problem staying here.

Oh yeah, they didn't mention the breakfast to us, either. Not even in the literature in the room. I only knew about it because I'd researched on the internet before we went, and I saw the tables when we checked in. I have to wonder why they don't advertise it. I'd think it would be a selling point.

“A little disappointing”

I think this hotel is below par compared to other Best Westerns. It wasn't terrible, but I was a little disappointed.

Positive features: Good access to Lake Mead, rooms are clean and spacious, friendly staff, acceptable continental breakfast, refridgerator in the room.

Negative features: There were two mattresses in my room, one was mildly uncomfortable and the other was horribly uncomfortable, poor wireless internet reception from the rooms, there was no hotel information provided in the room (e.g. hours for breakfast, instructions for internet hookup).

“Great for dog owners!”

If you travel with your dogs, this is a great place to stay. This hotel is dog-friendly, and (wonder of wonders) you don't have to stay in a smoking room to have your dog stay with you! We paid $10 extra for our two big dogs. The property is three stories with outside access doors. Top two floors have small fence-in balconies that a large dog couldn't squeeze through - best to watch little Fifi, though. Bottom floor opens to some grassy areas that are good for dog-walking, other walking areas are in the back. There's an outdoor swimming pool for families. Some rooms (2nd and 3rd stories) have views of Lake Mead. There is internet access in each room and our room had a small refrigerator. The rooms are rather large, clean and comfortable. Nothing to really knock your socks off, but a good place for the money, close to the lake, a/c worked great and the dogs loved it. Worst thing about the place is getting back out to the highway - fast moving traffic makes a left-hand turn towards Hoover Dam difficult.

“A Huge Disappointment”

Best Western Lighthouse Inn and Resort

May 23, 2005

Our last night of a week-long vacation was booked at this inn. Soooooo disappointing. We had no view of the lake (their promo), the room was stuffy and the A/C didn't work well (it was 100 degrees outside), and the general feel of the place was like a Motel 6. Old threadbare bathroom towels, no kleenex, funky frig that made noise, and a disappointing continental breakfast. Would not stay here again. Not what we expected from a Best Western.

“Good place to stay, close to the Lake Mead”

This is a good hotel to stay at, we have been going to this place for several years. They now have a decent breakfast and the rooms are very clean, except the carpet. I hear they replaced the carpet in most rooms but of course not in the one we were in. We took our grandchildren with us and just from walking on the carpet their feet were BLACK. So if you stay here keep your shoes on until you go to bed.
