Just got back from a business trip to Atlanta and stayed at the Wingate for four nights. I read all of the comments on Tripadvisor and after seeing it for myself; I have to agree this is a great property.

I found out the property owners also own a Limo car service so there are always upscale cars and drivers on a first come first served basis to take you to a nearby mall or a restaurant for dinner and then pick you up to take you back if you can’t or don’t want to drive.

The room was comfortable and the bed was first class. The business center was top notch and the Internet connection both wired and WiFi is free. The included breakfast had a great variety with omelets, bacon, sausage, hot and cold cereal, great homemade style muffins, fruit, etc. The European coffee machine with all kinds of coffee was a nice touch. The cookies in the evening are also a nice touch. The desk staff is as good as it gets, always ready to please!

The surrounding area is all business but there are two large malls that are just a few miles away. There is a Starbucks just half a mile away as well for us coffee lovers. There is a large Greek style diner that one could walk to, I ate there one night and the food was OK but I thought that $35.00 for a chicken pasta dish and a glass of table wine was excessive for a diner.

Two small issues were it is illegal to make a left turn into the hotel so one needs to drive by it and make a u-turn which is a pain. The coffee for the coffee maker in my room was never replaced after the first day, and maid service was somewhat sloppy with coffee cups from the lobby never cleaned up. I'm sure I could have received more coffee if I complained but there is always coffee in the lobby night and day so I never did but it should have been replaced regardless.

This is a great property for a business trip or Atlanta sightseeing. I managed to visit the Atlanta History museum which is just a few miles from the hotel and would recommend it.

Wingate – Atlanta

We spent two nights (24/04 & 06/05) at the Wingate. Each time we had two rooms. I have to say I was hesitant (despite the reviews) – I guess I thought ‘what could be special about a chain hotel’ – but I was very pleasantly surprised – the reviews were true.

Firstly check-in was quick and the receptionist was very informative, helpful and pleasant. The rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. We used the limo service twice – which again I was expecting to be too good to be true – and guess what? It was true; the service was excellent & FREE!!!

I also had the pleasure of meeting Anthony (the manager) – we’d communicated via email – he was as helpful and polite as I could have wished.

The downside – the rooms on the back are noisy at the moment due to the early starting construction (about 3-00am on our first visit!). Also, on our second stay my parents were woken at about 2-30am by kids playing in the hot tub (I did report this to the receptionist on leaving, but she didn’t really seem interested), which was disappointing as all of the other staff seemed really attentive and proud of the service they provided. I would have expected the night receptionist to have put a stop to the noise as it occurred.

Overall – a really good experience - my rating was only lowered by the two issues.

This hotel is a wonderful property for those who seek a great location, very comfortable quarters, and a friendly staff who will go out of their way to assist you. The room and especially the beds were extremely comfortable. The breakfast was a terrific start to two long days, and being a veteran of hundreds of nights in hotels, this is one that I highly recommend in the strongest possible terms. You won't find a better location or experience in the area.

My experience at the Wingate exceeded my expectations in every way! I see why it is rated the #1 hotel in Atlanta by TripAdvisor. We were there attending a music conference and will never stay at any other hotel. The rooms had nice hardwood floors, the beds were soooooo comfortable, the service was excellent, and the breakfast was far above the normal "continental" offered by most hotels its size. My friend and I never felt the need to have breakfast anywhere else. With all the amenities, you would have thought this was much larger and presigious hotel. They even have 2 limos and 2 state-of-the-art SUVs to shuttle hotel guests. My only regret is we did not get a chance to work out in the fitness gym, swim in the pool, or lounge in the hot tub. Now, they are owned by Wyndam Hotels. It will probably just get even better, if that is possible. :-) Hightly recommended! Stay there and enjoy.
