The hotel is a good solid choice but it is truly a 3 star hotel with slightly above average rooms. The hotel lobby is very nice but the hotel is older. Luckly it has been reworked. My wife and family spent a week here so we have a pretty good feel for the staff and overall quality of this hotel. I spend a lot of time at hotels a year (20 to 50 nights) so I have a good feel for quality and service. The front desk quality is robotic and not that friendly. I believe that this is a direct relationship to the management philosophy since their attitude could be much more helpful. We all know the feeling of a staff that really cares. You can't fake caring. Then again, a clean room, great location, and price are more important to me.
Now to the details. The pool area is nice and the kids loved it even though my wife and I were not happy that the spa was closed for repair. Funny thing, we never seen anybody working on the spa in 7 days. So when are they actually going to fix it? My quess is whenever they want. I kind of worry that there are other things not being done since this area had no work done in 7 days.
The rooms had GOOD bedding and good quality. The TV was the standard TV, no Plasma or LCD that most upscale hotels nowadays have. Our room had a balcony and it is small and not worth the price if you opt for it. It came with our deal. For under a $100 a night the deal is quite good and the AREA is really a nice place with plenty of things to do and good places to eat. The next exit has PF Changs (good chinese food) and down the road is some excellent Mexican and Seafood at Papadeux. I was thinking that since I was in the south that people would be a little more nice but this was not the case overall. By the way, the girls at the coffee shop were always great and as the one other reviewer stated should work the front counter. Overall, we were happy with ours stay and I can easily recommend this place because it was CLEAN (housekeeping was good) and was a fair price for what you get along with a really great location for ease of travel. Also, they want $10 a night to put a fridge and microwave in your room. Should be standard. Also, another pay for internet place. I hate pay for internet at hotels. It seems the more you pay the less chance you have of getting free internet. The cookies are great but I would prefer free internet.
Prepare to be treated avererage and sleep well. Also plan on not drinking in the bar unless you want to get gouged. I know that this hotel is listed as a top 10 hotel in Atlanta but I truly doubt this is true. It could be a top 10 deal though if you get it for under $100.
