I spent 3 days in Atlanta before the Peach Bowl Dec 2005 to visit the new GA Aquarium with my fiancee. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal we had at Max Lager's one night. The menu is well priced not too expensive. The service was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was good and presented well. Max Lager's has a good selection of in house brewed beer as well. I recommend the seasonal Abbey. If you are a fan of good beer and food in a relaxed atmosphere and in Atlanta try it out. The resturant is within walking distance of the Marriot Marquis, and other downtown hotels.

This is a local micro-brewery in downtown Atlanta in the triangle by the Hyatt, Best Western and the Amerisuites. They have several excellent brews including a red, an IPA and a dark. Very tasty and well made. The problem is the food, which is not in the same league. Despite having a wood fired oven, the pizzas come out small, anemic and looking/tasting like a flatbread. They are largely bland and lacking in sufficient topping. The salads are not quality mesclun with a tasty dressing but the iceberg lettuce variety. The best option is the appetisers, especially with a group of 3-4, since the portions are large and well constructed. The onion and jalapeno rings are particularly good. Skip the gloppy, bland, and tasteless pastas. Service though, is helpful and attentive. Now, if only the kitchen could sort the pizza dough out.....
