“Clean, nice lobby, convenient location, need new windows”

We stayed here March 6-8, 2008. This is a nice Hampton in downtown Atlanta. It is about 2 blocks from the Peachtree Center MARTA station and about 2 blocks from Olympic Centennial Park. There are restaurants in walking distance, but most are chain ones like Hard Rock and Hooters.

The rooms were comfortable and clean. The beds were comfortable and they had a variety of pillows. The breakfast room was very large and pleasant. The complimentary business center was nice. My major complaint was that the hotel was in a converted older building and they didn't replace the windows. So, lots of street noise came through the windows and cold drafts did, too. The hotel was quiet at night, but as the early morning rush hour started the street noise was quite loud.

Every afternoon the lobby had a tray of cookies on a table. They also handed out boxes of breath mints in the breakfast room.

“Good Hotel, BUT some noise...”

Hampton Inn and Suites Atlanta Downtown

We stayed here for 5 nights while attending a Tony Robbins seminar (which was excellent). The rooms are the usual Hampton Inn type, which I think are quite nice. The front desk staff was VERY, VERY helpful to us on several occasions. I have two complaints, though. We were on the third floor, and the street noise was too loud for me. The windows have no soundproofing. If you stay on a higher floor, you would probably avoid most of the noise. My other (minor) complaint is about the free breakfast. Though I don't expect much from this type of buffet, the one at this hotel was less than adequate. I had a stale bagel. The mixed fruit tasted like it had spoiled. I think the hotel could do better in this area. Would I stay here again? YES, but only if I could get a room on a high floor. This is a decent hotel if you are paying between $99 and $129. I'd look around a bit if it costs much more than this.

“Great hotel - quiet, clean great location”

We stayed overnight at the Hampton Inn to attend a football game, and were very pleased with our hotel. Good location ( we walked to the CNN center, the Georgia Dome, the Coke Factory, and out for dinner and drinks in the evening).

Check in was fine - clerk barey noticed we were there but managed to get us in. The room was nicely appointed, and clean. Comfortable beds, large bathroom.

The clerk was not helpful at all when asked to recommend restaurants, but after giving a blank stare did manage to hand us a sheet of nearby restaurants.

Breakfast in the morning was ok - mostly just standard fare of pastries and muffins.

Overall a nice hotel, great location, and completely indifferent, uninterested staff.

“Good hotel with some street noise”

Hampton Inn and Suites Atlanta Downtown

Dec 19, 2007

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in December to attend a conference at the nearby convention center. The location is great, 10 minutes walk from the convention center, and close to the Metra Station. The hotel is a great value: nice rooms, free breakfast, and free internet. I felt some noise from two sources: trains and street noise. Trains run very infrequently during the night, may be once, and the closer you get to the convention center the louder the trains; so trains did not disturb my sleep much. The street noise may be a factor since my window faced the busy Spring Street. You could hear cars honk occasionally until 11:00 PM. The street is very busy if there is an activity at the nearby Georgia Dome. The windows are not double glaced. However, overall, I think it was a great stay and I would come back because of the location, value, and staff assistance.

“Disappointed”

I spent 4 nights at this Hampton inn while attending a conference in nearby Georgia congress conf center. My main problem of the hotel was that I have reserved a non-smoking room and when I check in, they only have smoking room left. I protested but the staff were not very helpful at all. I got no sleep that night.
The following day, I was moved to a non-smoking room with only 1 full size bed and because I have a room-mate for the remaining 3 nights, I have to sleep on a roll away. The rooms were also not very clean with lots of dust at corners. When I checked out, it took the staff more than 20 mins to sort out the bill when all I need is for the cost of 3/4 nights to be split.
The hotel otherwise is convenient for attending the conference and to restaurants downtown. Breakfast was good and plentiful.
For the price the Hampton is charging, I should have stayed at the Marriott downtown or Westin Peachtree which were both just across the street, espeically now that I know all Marriott hotels are smoke free.
