“Hated! Rooms dirty, obnoxious manager, had to clean bathroom ourselves.”

Hilton Garden Inn Corpus Christi

We filed a complaint with Hilton Hotels, see our experience below. We were guests June18-23, 2008.

We have completed our stay at the Corpus Christi Texas Hilton Garden Inn. The manager of the hotel was totally obnoxious to us, threatened to put us out on the street, late at night, even though he knew our trip to Corpus was for medical reasons. We basically used no housekeeping services during our stay, to ensure that there would be no further issues with the manager. We traded in our dirty towels ourselves for clean ones, and only one day had them empty the trash and change our linens. So, we did not ask for the normal cleaning services, even though it is part of the normally expected services that we pay for.

Upon arrival we found out that our room was booked incorrectly by the hotel, even though we called the hotel directly to confirm that we had a king size bed, as the evolution bed was the reason we chose the hotel to begin with, and we had a hard copy of the email confirmation with us and showed it to the desk clerk. Since the only king rooms that they had available were for disabled people, we went to check in to one of those. It was filthy, and the entryway light was burned out, the toilet seat was dirty with urine stains, and when we turned down the bed, the sheets had someone's bodily hair all over it. It obviously had not been cleaned after the last guest left. They then sent us to two other disabled king rooms, that had their own cleanliness issues, one of which had the pull down seat in the shower pulled out of the wall, and either thrown out or was stolen. The last one we looked at smelled like urine when we walked into the room. Not only was this a horrible way to ruin a one-year-old hotel, but also it made us wonder if they don't think they have to clean properly for disabled people. We were then forced to take a queen room for the first night, bought our own Lysol disinfectant to clean the bathroom ourselves, and had a very uncomfortable night sleep, as those beds were very hard as they were not evolution beds.

We were moved to a king room the following night, and noticed the bathroom was also not cleaned well. We called the front desk to have housekeeping clean the toilet seat; the manager, the assistant manager and head housekeeper came up to our room. The manager was loud, rude and obnoxious when they walked in. The manager said to us that they don't have time to thoroughly clean the rooms, so if they are dirty, well, too bad. That is when he threatened to kick us out. He was certainly not very customer friendly, and presented a very poor reflection on Hilton Hotels. The stay could have been a nice experience if the manager knew how to run a hotel properly, and learned the rule "the customer is always right". He yelled at us and called us liars. He also told us that the neighboring Courtyard by Marriott had the same evolution beds that they do, so we should just go there to stay. We called the Courtyard, and they had no idea what an evolution bed was.

“Very nice!”

Hilton Garden Inn Corpus Christi

We stayed at the Hilton Garden in order to be somewhat centrally located in Corpus Christi (going to the beach and aquarium). The hotel was overall very, very nice - no complaints. We were traveling with 2 little kids, and our room worked out very well with a separate bedroom from the living area. The room was extremely quiet (only heard one door slam the entire stay). Beds were pretty good, and the hotel was very clean. Breakfast was good and wait staff were fast and efficient. We would definitely consider going back to this hotel, but would like to be closer to the beach next time. However, considering we wanted a separate sleeping area for our kids, the price was pretty good (159.00 a night).

If you are looking for a nice, clean, quiet hotel, the Hilton Garden is a great choice. Thanks for the recommendation from other Tripadvisors! :)

“Check the bed”

Hilton Garden Inn Corpus Christi

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Corpus Christi for one night to attend a wedding. When we checked in the lobby looked very nice. When we entered our room everything was very nice and looked new.

When we brought our things to the room we sat down on the bed and noticed random long hairs on the comforter of the bed. There was also multiple long hairs all over the bathroom floor. When one of us went to take a shower he found a wet wash cloth hanging on the curtain rod. We checked our sheets thoroughly before getting into bed and found that they had not been changed. There were multiple hairs in the sheets. There was also a bottle cap on the floor no where near a trash can so I assume the floor was not vacuumed either.

The only other thing that should be mentioned is that the pool is located right next to the front desk and the tile floor was wet the whole time we were there from people going in and out to the pool which made the floor slippery.

We did get clean sheets to put on the bed but we will not stay at the Hilton Garden Inn ever again. If you decide to stay here be sure to check your sheets before you get in bed!

“Great hotel and a bargain at the price.”

This hotel has lots of amenities that other hotels in the same price range do not. The rooms are very modern and every area of the hotel we saw was equally as modern. The entrance is very tranquile with the waterfall and the pool area was clean as well as the parking lot. The bed was comfortable and we didn't hear noise from any of the adjoining rooms. I would recommend staying at this hotel if you're in Corpus for business or pleasure.

We have stayed at this property several times in the past 6 month - most recently this past weekend. Each visit has been for several nights and we have been very pleased with our choice. When we were first there last fall, there were a couple minor glitches but the management was most responsive to our issues. I suspect they were still in the "new, settling in" stage as this most recent stay was flawless. The property is clean and tastefully appointed. The staff is friendly and helpful. We are at the HHonors level that breakfast is included and they do a very nice job - more choices than average. The property is quiet - well back from the busy road and in a quiet area. It is a bit removed from much of the main CC shopping areas and a distance from downtown but is very convenient to the A & M campus, Naval Airstation, (North) Padre and Mustang Islands plus several of the southside hospitals. They also have excellent free wireless which is a plus for us. We plan to stay at this Hilton Garden on our future visits to the CC area.
