“Not bad if just staying for a night or two”

Oak Tree Inn

2 of 5 stars
Ontario, Canada
Jan 8, 2008

This is an OK place to stay if you're shopping at the Galleria if you must, but would recommend looking elsewhere. The location is great, the price is good and you get a coupon each day you stay for a nearby restaurant, so our breakfast came to about $5 each day with the coupons taken into account. It was a nice treat.
Unfortunately the hotel wasn't such a treat. The front desk staff seemed unprofessional and uninterested, at first I didn't know if they were even working there.
Aside from that, the walls are paper thin. Trust me, we heard everything going on next door. Then about 2:30am, the alarm clock next door went off for 10 minutes, I called front desk and asked them to look into it since it woke me up. They said they'd be right up. 30 minutes later, the alarm was still going off.
The room was extremely warm the entire stay. We even turned off the heat all night (in December!) and still were quite warm in the morning.
Our shower was stuck in the off position, had to have the manager come to jerk it into place for us. Then, when we did get water it was freezing cold.

On the good side, it was cheap and clean. Could do worse, but could do better.

“Manager is a real jerk”

Oak Tree Inn

Jan 3, 2008

I had to cancel a reservation at this place and called several days beforehand. They said fine but then charged my credit card anyway. The manager was a total jerk when I called. He said he had no record of the cancellation. At first he said he would credit my account and then gave me a lecture on how I should have cancelled through the internet since I booked on Orbitz. I told him I had no internet access and then he said since I was "so argumentative" that the charge will stand. So now I have to fight this dimwit via Master Card. I have the proof of the call on my cell phone.

“Close to Walden”

Oak Tree Inn

3 of 5 stars
Oakville
Nov 19, 2007

This hotel is very convenient to the Walden Galleria, the I-90 and the airport. We got a great rate of 79.00 for one night. The hotel is fairly new, built in 2002. We were greeted by unfriendly staff behind the counter and while we were checking in, other potential guests came to inquire about rooms. The hotel was full and the clerk told them so, without looking up from her writing, without smiling, etc. It has a small gym with a hot tub. Our room was on the 2nd floor. It was clean, had 2 comfortable beds had a lazy boy type chair, microwave, coffee maker, fridge. They could use some better pillows though - very soft and small. No complaints other than the pillows. We received 2 $5 off coupons for breakfast lunch or dinner at the family style restaurant you could walk to. Good location for the price. We would stay there again.

“Very Nice Hotel!!”

I was in the Buffalo area, and I actually work for another Hotel chain that is not in the Buffalo area. We had frequented several hotels for rates near the Airport and the prices were so highly horrendous. We actually stumbled across this hotel to stay at when we were shopping. We decided to go in to check on a rate for the night. I was greeted by a friendly clerk who actually gave us a very good 20% lower rate than the normal rack rate. After staying at this hotel, I would definitely reccommend this hotel again. The hotel is kept up quite nicely. We did not get a chance to view the breakfast though. When staying at the hotel, try not to get a room on the first floor next to the entry door to the parking lot. Our room was right next to the door and it slammed when closing. This does not discredit the hotel though because most other hotels have this problem as well. The staff do not wear uniforms. Which led me to one conclusion. The hotel must rent a lot of their rooms to Direct Bill accounts. (Guests who are sent frequently from Companies, where the company pays). So if you are looking for uniformed guest at the front desk, then you may want to stay at another hotel. However, the front desk were very polite. I will definitely stay at this hotel again, next time when I am in Buffalo.

“Rude and Inefficient Staff”

Oak Tree Inn

I stayed here 2 nights and the first morning the shower did not work. Only a trickle of luke-warm water. Advised the desk to fix it,as I was staying over again. The next morning..no water in the shower at all! They sent the maintence fellow...who "fixed it",but when I got in to shower...back to the luke-warm trickle! I complained when I checked out and the lady on the desk said, "it was rented all week, with no problems"! Guess what Lady...It doesn't matter...it's not working now. I dared her to go try and take a shower. Why would I lie?
Rude and offensive! Never comin back to this place.
