We had a lovely stay here which is why I am so surprised by the couple of reviews that are negative about the atmosphere and Jan, she was so helpful and friendly when we were there and I can only imagine that there was some personal circumstance that unfortunately effected her usually happy persona that we saw on our visit. We stayed in the lovely bright and airey room one, the breakfasts were fantastic with alot of care and thought put into the menu to prodcuce some really tasty treats cooked by Jan, it was nice to chat to the other guests at the main dining table and swap stories. It was easy to walk into town in about 15 mins. As we were out and about sight seeing for much of the day we did not miss having a common area to sit in or on demand tea and coffee, the facilities on offer were perfectly acceptable. I wish that Jan could comment on the other reviews and offer some insight as to what had happened, as I would hate to think that people would be put off staying in this lovely place.

I recently visited the beautiful town of Newport. It was everything I hoped it would be except..... The atmosphere of the B& B was as cool as the New England Fall Air. I had researched the John Easton House On-Line and felt somewhat fooled. Upon arrival we were met by the home owner and greeted with a bill, rules and an attitude. The home was quite lovely, the meal satisfactory but the atmosphere quite uncomfortable and unrelaxing. I would highly recommend visiting another B & B.

“Fun with Jan?”

24 hour tea consists of tea bags by the water cooler, breakfast was ok. Make sure you ask for remote control for fireplace because you may not be able to use after the maintenence man leaves. Bed was comfortable, although atmosphere was not.
Newport is a very nice town.

My wife and I just returned from an anniversary trip to Newport, RI
It was our first trip and I highly recommend the town. The town was beautiful , the retaurants fantastic and the townspeople warm and friendly. However, we were somewhat disappointed by our experience at the John Easton house. The owner was not as warm and inviting as her web site proposed. The food was just satisfactory and the accomodations were not as elegant as we expected. I would recommend looking at other B&B's .

Had a great weekend at the John Easton House. Good size room, very comfy with King bed, nicely decorated. Centrally located in a nice neigborhood just off Bellview Ave. Jan the owner is so warm and friendly she makes you feel very welcome and serves a delicious breakfast. Only thing we didn't care for is there are no common sitting areas at this B&B except for the dinning room only open at 9am. Overall very good, we'll be back.
