I must admit I was scared to death to stay here after reading some of the reviews. The hotel manager was kind enough to respond to my emails and calm my fears. Nothing really worked until we walked in our room and looked out the sliding glass doors to the lanai!!! It was a gorgeous view! Although we were on the 3rd floor we still had an amazing view, a comfortable bed, great housekeeping, and an air conditioner that worked it's butt off!!!
If you are looking for a brand new hotel with all the luxuries this isn't for you. If you are looking for a hotel across the road from the beach, near trolley and bus stops, a short walk from the international market or the kapiolani park this is the place to stay. It had a refrigerator and was located next door to the ABC store (they are everywhere!). We were very happy with this choice and will stay here again.
They are undergoing renovations and the top floor (12th) has been gutted and is being worked on. Workers never bothered us or inconvenienced us.
We checked in about 3 hours early and the front desk placed us in a room right away. He didn't know the carpet had just been shampooed and we had to leave the door open and let the dryer fan run for 45 minutes before we could leave the room and our stuff. He kindly offered to switch our rooms but we decided to stay. The ceiling did look like it had been partially painted for smoke damage or something, some peeling wall paper. But dang, we were basically there to sleep. The breakfast consists of pastries, fruit, teas, coffees and a free paper. Get there as soon as it begins! Not bad, for being included in the price.
There is a guy/guys out front trying to get you to do a tour or something, but once they recognize you for being a hotel patron they pretty much leave you alone.
I'm sure once the renovations are completed on this property there won't be many complaints.
We stayed here June 1-6.
