We didn't want to spend too much on a hotel room because we were only there for 1.5 days (2 nights). The hotel "upgraded" us to a partial ocean view room. The Westin across the street completely blocked any chance of our view of the ocean. There was a lot of outside noise (band playing in the courtyard of the hotel) that was directly outside our room.

Great location...very close to the beach, shopping/dining is walking distance.

The little contact we had with the hotel staff was average.

“Great hotel”

We stayed here for our first 2 nights in Hawaii after a long flight from New York. The tower is a great location - not on the beach, but if you're only here for a short stay, you probably won't spend too much time on crowded Waikiki Beach anyway. And if the beach is your thing, it's only a block away. We stayed on the 27th floor - get a high floor if you can. The views are spectacular from the balcony. The staff is friendly - easy check in and check out, and the concierge was very helpful in getting dinner reservations at local restaurants for us. This hotel met all expectations, and even exceeded others with how good the breakfest buffet was. I don't think I'd ever spend a significant amount of time in Honolulu - the north side of Oahu and the other islands are really what Hawaii is all about. But for a short stay after a long flight, this hotel is awesome.

The location of the Sheraton was the reason we chose to stay here. I have never stayed in a room that was so loud in my life. Our room was in the newer tower that faced the International Market. Not only could we hear loud music until late into the night, it sounded like we were in the middle of a construction site with dump and delivery trucks showing up at the crack of dawn. Not to mention that we could hear everything going o in the rooms next to us. After the 4th day of no sleep, I went to tell the manager who wouldn't even come out to speak to me and told the front desk clerk that if I wanted to move, I would have to pay more money. I ended up calling their corporate office to complain and the manager called me on my cell phone and told me I could move at no charge. You could still hear noises on the other side of the hotel, but not as loud and the music broke up much earlier at night. There is nothing special about the rooms at all, from what the staff themselves told us, the food was nothing to rave about, so we never did eat there. We did enjoy meeting for drinks by the pool in the evening. They have live entertainment nightly, however, you'll spend plenty of time waiting for cocktail service out there. One night we made the huge mistake of taking in the hotel's comedy show. It was horrific and sooooo not worth the money. I don't know where they dug these people up from, but it was a huge rip off. If you want to use their hotel gym, you have to go to a different Sheraton and pay money. Also, I felt that the $20 a day to park was outrageous, but in all honostly I'm not sure how that compares to other hotels. The conceirge only wanted to make reservations at restaurants where he would benefit from making the call himself. For the almost $1400 we paid for 7 nights...I'd definitely keep looking around. If you feel you'll need sleep at all, you'd be better off staying somewhere else.

“Quite Basic”

We had a corporate rate which was $109/night for a double-occupancy non-smoking room facing the pool (room 710). This building is the shorter tower which runs parallel to the ocean.

We stayed there for six nights and found the room to be clean and comfortable, but, as many mentioned, there are some issues which may make me decide to stay somewhere else in the future.

PROS
- Beds very comfortable
- Rooms kept very clean
- balconies
- Very short walk to Waikiki Beach (2 minutes) and the Waikiki 'strip'
- Pool area looked nice
- Nice Hawaiian music poolside nightly

CONS
- NO valet! upon check-in we pulled up to the curb and a tour bus pulled in behind us, the single 'bell boy' rushed to the tour bus and didn't even look at us - we had to unload our bags ourselves and I had to go park my car in a multi-storey parking garage next door which was ALWAYS packed with cars and had no elevator! Plus - i had to pay $20 a day!

- Understaffed - not only the lack of valet, but the front-desk staff seemed overworked, the concierge was almost never there or was inundated with Japanese tourists. I was even told on two occasions, "we're short on staff right now"

- THIN WALLS - we could hear our neighbors conversations through the vents.

- Noisy at times - Waikiki Blvd. gets noisy on any day of the week, especially at peak tourist times. if you are an early sleeper (before 9:30pm) the live music down by the pool is very audible every night!

All-in-all, i think we got a great rate, but I would probably pay an extra $20-30/night and stay at the Kaimana Beach hotel which is right on the beach and has very friendly and personable staff and a proper valet!
