We went to La Cusinga expected an eco-friendly environment. We got that and so much more! The feel was as if you had joined a big happy family. The meals were delicious and healthy. The views were spectacular. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again if I get the opportunity to return to Costa Rica.

I had been doing extensive travelling in Central America and my arrival to this magical place was exactly what I needed to relax and have a taste of what Costa Ricans call Pura Vida.
The lodge has beautiful rooms where all you can hear at night are the crickets and frogs...the view from my room was the sea and an Island call Isla del Caño. The food was delicious and we had from chicken to the morning catch of the day...yellow tail tuna.
There is a beautiful beach nearby , which is a short walk from the hotel. On the way you can see amazing trees, birds and other animals.. the beach is quite isolated which allows you to have as your companion only the sound of the waves crashing.
We were also able to do horseback riding and canopy which I must say it is a lot of fun. All in all, if you are planning to go to Costa Rica and have a taste of the real thing…do go to La Cusinga.

If you do nothing else before you die, pay a visit and stay at La Cusinga. Within the first 24 hours, every worry and hassle you had when you came will simply disappear. From the setting to the simply wonderful and elegant cabins, to the virgin rainforest surrounding you, to the whale and dolphins you can see from the lodge going by, to the wildlife, the organic farm, the wood working, and the staff that is second to none and in my opinion surpass the staff of the best 5-star resorts in the world, there simply is nothing like this place. Unbelievable serenity, amazing food, impeccable and thoughtful service and surroundings that simply must be seen to be believed make for a truly unforgettable experience, and one you will never forget - in fact you may find yourself yearning and pining to come back more and more. Do yourself a favor, ditch the craziness of urban life for a while, visit La Cusinga, and remember what it is like to be part of nature and the world around you. I am not kidding when I say I CANNOT say enough good things about this place, and you will find yourself in the same position after your first stay!

Our week at La Cusinga was so good that we are booked to return the same week next year! The accommodations were clean & comfortable the food fresh, and delicious... from the chicken to local seafood and the fresh juices (Star fruit juice was amazing) much thanks to Rita and her crew. There is a multitude of wild life in the surrounding rain-forest- monkeys toucans lizards geckos and La Cusinga (bird) everyday! We visited several area beaches but found Playa Arco to be our favorite. On our trip to Canos Island we saw whales and sea turtles then hiked to the mayan burial grounds, and snorkeled in the sea. In the following days we went horseback riding on Playa Hermosa and took the zip line tour. Most siestas were spend relaxing and reading books. This is a simple eco-lodge with great accommodations, great food and LOTS of nature it is truly a nature lovers stop. The staff does a good job educating visitors. We loved it!
Be ready to make a few changes to adapt ecologically. Water is solar heated and electric is hydro-generated. If you are looking for well developed accommodations this is not for you there is no pool, AC, TV or internet and I hope this never changes (our teenage son has called this our best vacation ever- and didn't miss his daily tube hook up)!
