“Okay... but wouldn't recommend”

Santorinin was the last stop of our honeymoon and we were really looking forward to it. After being in Mykonos for 5 nights, which I would highly recommend to anyone traveling to Greece, we were expecting to have an even better hotel/time in Santorini. Unfortunately, we were wrong.

The hotel wasn't extremely bad or anything, it's just we were expecting the room to be nicer. I didn't feel like the pictures that I saw represented the hotel well. Here are a list of things that I wish I wouldn't done differently or known prior to going...

1) I wouldn't stay in this location, Imerovigli. Although it is known as one of the best places to see the sunset, my husband and I prefer Fira or Oia. Both those locations have more to see, more shopping, restaurants, etc. We did do a beautiful hike to Oia from our hotel, and loved the way Oia looked. It looked more relaxing than Fira which was extremely touristy.

2) I would pay a little extra and stay in a different hotel with a better room. Our room didn't have a comfortable feel. The bathroom was SOOOO tiny and very uncomfortable. The beds were uncomfortable, the couch was uncomfortable... you get my point. However, the view and pool were amazing.

3) The staff was very nice and helpful. Every morning we had a complimentary breakfast delivered to our porch area and that was a real treat!

4) FYI - The shuttle that takes you to Fira and Oia is NEVER on time

5) Beware when opening any windows in the room. There are tiny mosquitos that stay in the room and terrorize you at night :) I honestly didn't have one good night's rest while staying here.

6) The hotel doesn't have a sit-down restaurant, but does offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Hope that helps!!

Nice place but I got charged TWICE for my stay. Many calls and emails were exchanged but they never got to the bottom of the situation and did not refund my money.

Pretty Shady in the business department. STAY AWAY!

“Superb View, Friendly Staff”

Xenones Filotera

We decided to book this hotel through their website. We were a bit sceptical doing so but as soon as we arrived we immediately discovered that we were in the best hotel of Santorini! The view is just magnificent! The pool area is so romantic and peaceful that you just want to sit there all day! Great food and margaritas served by the pool area...Thank you Vasso! The hotel manager, Fotis was very efficient in catering for all our needs, including tips about the island and car rentals, and made our stay there a very pleasant one. Their rooms are from very spacious to HUGE and all have private balconies, kitchen facilities and mini bars with great Santorini house wine. Go and enjoy Santorini, a beautiful island!

“Enriched our stay!”

Xenones Filotera felt right from the first. The friendly staff was enthusiastically and genuinely helpful and courteous, offering assistance with respect. Fortis provided assistance in planning our outings to fit our interests and fit into the time available. His advice was sound. The complimentary breakfasts were superb and the dinner delicious- don't miss the Santorini salad!

We fell in love with the island and decided we should have arranged a longer stay - definitely at the same place. If I have a chance to return, I will reserve my place at Xenones Filotera again.

Small hotel sits on bluff overlooking the Caldera. Excellent location between Fira and Oia. Spacious rooms with sitting area. Decor not luxurious but very adequate and clean. The staff was most friendly and accommodating. Breakfast choices fantastic, hot and cold delivered to room or poolside. Pool has phenominal view of sea and very private. Bar poolside where you can order light meals. Room service meals excellent. Loved this hotel and would stay there again.
