We loved this hotel! Fred was very kind and helpful. He helped us arrange daily excursions, drove us to our destinations, etc.

Pros: Cute room
AC
Views!
Fred
lovely breakfast
easy to access computer/internet
right in front of bus stop

Cons:
We loved the location which is right between Ia and Fira HOWEVER...i highly recommend getting a car. We felt a big stranded/dependant on Fred since we did not have one. The driving is scary so be careful! Fast drivers and winding mountain roads around cliffs. It is a gorgeous hotel but a big hard to stay at if you dont have a car.

bathroom a big small

“Beautiful and Pure Relaxation”

Imerovigli Palace Hotel

The Imerovigli Palace is pure heaven. Based on other reviews on this site, we requested a top room, and that was fantastic advice- by all means, request a top floor room. Our room had a main floor and a loft and we could see the water out of both sides of our room.

When we checked in we were greeted like long-lost friends by Eleni. A couple of days later Fred, the owner arrived and he was just as friendly- treated us to a glass of champagne and drove us to one of the sites he recommended seeing on Santorini.

We were on Santorini during some of the hottest days ever in Greece recorded history (topped 110 one day). While it was hot, sitting on the pool deck under the roof created a lovely breeze all the time as the wind blew up the caldera.

Just a note, the Palace is not in Imerovigli but is down the large hill from the village. And it is very different from being in the town of Oia (where we stayed 10 years ago). The pool is fresh water and huge. If you are looking for a place that is pure relaxation and away from the hustle and bustle of things, look no further.

“Best stay in Santorini to date!”

Imerovigli Palace Hotel

I am a Greek-American living in Canada. We decided to go to Santorini as a mini-vacation (4 days) from our main stay in Athens. We decided on Santorini, since we had friends visiting that had never been to Greece and though Santorini would depict the beauty of the Greek islands. I found out about this hotel through Trip Advisor and after reading comments left by others.

Boy, were we impressed with this hotel, the staff and the service! I have stayed in 3 seperate hotels in Santorini and by far this is the best. I believe in strong customer service, something we received from Fred, the owner, and his staff. The hotel price was reasonable compared to other luxury hotels with a view of the caldera. The hotel is located on the highest point of the island in Imerovigli and the view is just breathtaking. We stayed in the honeymoon suite on the first floor. The room was very clean, immaculate and had it's own charm, decorated in antique furniture owned by the owner's grandmother. Our friends stayed in the Deluxe Honeymoon suite on the second floor and their room was decorated a little bit differently, still maintaining its own unique charm. Of course, they went ga-ga over the view and the private third balcony.

Every morning there was a continental breakfast with fresh fruits, coffee, boiled eggs, varieties of breads, croissant, fresh squeezed OJ. It was quite filling! We would take our breakfast, sit by the pool and enjoy our view.

Fred, the owner, ensured that we were comfortable and recommended places and restaurants to visit. While I realize that these are locations he was probably promoting, I am glad that he did recommend these restaurants since they were affordable, good quality food and a place where the locals hang out. I did not want to be caught in any tourist traps. Fred also went out of his way, driving us - in his own car - to the main town when there was a disagreement with a local rent a car place. He provided small appetizers and champagne (we paid for this of course) for our first night at the hotel, while we admired the beautiful sunset.

I don't know about your preferences, but even though the price was high by my standards (that's what you pay in Santorini), it was all worth it. Every penny of it.

Now, the final word of caution. This is not like a chain hotel - ex: Fairmont, Hyatt, etc that you might see in USA or Canada. This hotel has it's own charm and design. You have to be willing to adapt to the local way of living on Santorini - things are relaxed, non stressed, very laid back. Enjoy your time there!

“Great view”

Imerovigli Palace Hotel

I have just returned from Santorini, Greece.
I was there for a medical conference and the hotel was booked via the organizer of the meeting.
Let me begin with the fact that the view from the rooms and the swimming pool is magnificent! The Aegean sea lies below and the sunsets are stunning.
The swimming pool was great too with a nice sundeck overlooking the sea.
The rooms were just OK and I really was surprized to find out out that (my room) costs 250 euros per night. It was a plain room, although it had a balcony. No bathtub, just a shower in the-small-bathroom. Also, keep in mind that there is no restaurant in the hotel, although breakfasts were adequate and served daily.
The owner is very pleasant and can give you a lot of info about the island.
Overall, a pleasant hotel but nothing to rave about. I think that the price is quite high for what the hotel offfers.

“Great View Complicated Room booking”

Imerovigli Palace Hotel

4 of 5 stars
San Francisco, California

After days and days of scouring through tour books & online reviews for places to stay, I finally settled on Imerovigli Palace. Imerovigli is located between Fira and Oia on the side of the island where you and everyone else wants to be. Imerovigli is cheaper then Oia and quieter (from the beat of the nightclubs) then Fira. This hotel sits on top of a bluff and has a divine view.

The hotel is nice and comfortable. Rooms were clean and the pool "Greek" cold . There was a couple good restaurants in walking distance and the hotel serves the standard Greek/European Continental spread for breakfast every morning and lunch on request. Ask about lunch well in advance of eating it as it may take a very long time.

One problem we, as well as several other guests (5 different people within our 1 week stay) were all promised the same room. On the hotels site they have some pictures of lovely rooms that have lofts. As I spoke to the hotelier to book the accommodation, I had the website up and he said that was the room I was booking. Upon arrival, that is not the room we got. No doubt the room we got was acceptable and I would have booked it anyway, the room I was told I was booking was not it. And there was a little problem about the price.... see the room with the loft is a large room, the loft is a bedroom and the first floor is living space. It is spacious and a good value at 180 Euro a night. The room we ended up in was a regular sized room at the same price. I threw a fit and upon checkout was compensated our bar tab. However, the fit I threw was nothing compared to the other fits I witnessed. And that is no way to start a holiday, especially when I would have booked the other room anyway, just show me what I am getting and be honest about it!

Divine View, nice pool. All rooms have a lovely veranda or terrace area (a few rooms even have 2.) The staff is friendly and kind. Laundry service is available and reasonable. Taxi's to Fira are approx 5 Euro.... or car rental about 40 Euro a day ( a little cheaper if you do not book thru the hotel) and motorbike 10 to 15 euro a day depending on who you book thru and how long you rent it for. Internet is also available in the Bar/Lounge.

Apparently things run smoother when the hotel owners adult children are there over the summer months. He seems a little over run and unwilling to delegate more to his staff when he is there without his kids.
