“Fantastic!!”

Sirenis Seaview Country Club

5 of 5 stars
Nottingham
Jul 31, 2008

Like most people I read all the reviews before I went and was worried. There was no need to worry as the Seaview was fantastic.

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment, in the hibiscus block. We had a massive balcony and could also watch the entertainment from our balcony at night (room 5311). We also had a seaview. The kitchen was fine, I think they are smaller in the Studios. The air conditioning was brilliant and you could leave it on whilst you was out.

The entertainment staff were brilliant and put on some good shows at night. They also did not pressure anyone to get involved if they did not want too.

There is a problem with the Sunbeds, people reserve them and never turn up or turn up about four!!. I refused to get up early and therefore we spent most of our days at the beach.

The beach is lovely with clear water, did not see any Jellyfish but apparently last year it was a real problem.

We stayed self catering and ate out every night, it is only a short walk to the restaurants.

We found some very good places to eat namely:-

Oasis (down a side street in San Antonio) excellent homemade Burgers and Coleslaw.

Little India ( lovely curry, but not cheap)

Boucala ( brilliant, went there a few times)

The Gold Crown (for Sunday Roast)

Es Virot ( nice Pasta, Garlic Bread and Desserts!!)

In summary the hotel was clean, room was spacious and clean and the surronding area was fantastic. We would definitely go again.

Remember a holiday is what you make it.

“will certainly be back”

Sirenis Seaview Country Club

4 of 5 stars
Portlethen, Scotland
Jul 29, 2008

Room: basic, reasonably comfortable, bit cramped as we had a cot too. Maids tended to sweep round things and didn't bother to sweep under beds, sofa etc.
Kitchen, as has been said before was very tiny; 2 hotplates, tiny draining board and chopping board over the sink. fridge didn't hold very much once you had a big bottle of water in it and no cupboard space to store dry foods. Our kettle also decided to short out late one night and tripped the entire electrics for the room, but after a phonecall to reception they sent out an electrician and we were given a replacement kettle from one of the night maids.

We were in room 2127 in Sunflower house which was on the ground floor right beside the pool. My only complaint (and its more of a suggestion really) is that the veranda has no gate and therefore no way of preventing small children from making a break for it. We have 3 children (age 8, 3 and nearly 2) and the 2 wee ones kept trying to escape to the pool every 5 minutes. So some kind of safety gate would make all the difference.

After reading some of the reviews on here before we went, I was expecting to be woken at the crack of dawn every morning by hyperactive entertainment staff - its nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. Yes they have huge speakers, and being so close to the pool and stage we did hear it, but it wasn't unbearable by any stretch of the imagination. They didn't tend to make much noise until 10am and if you close the patio doors in the evening, you can hear very little noise from the evening entertainments.
The entertainment staff deserve a medal, the are on the go morning, noon and night and their enthusiasm never wanes. The songs do get a bit monotonous after hearing them every day for a fortnight, but hey - its a holiday!

The public areas of the hotel itself are beautifully kept, everything is shiny and clean. Reception staff are on the whole very helpful and pleasant (with 1 or 2 exceptions) They will exchange money and travellers cheques. We were charged 2 euros commission for every 100 euro travellers cheques.

I also read a few reviews before we left that mentioned the pool being closed due to "lazy parents not changing their kids". Now I was really worried about this as our middle child has bowel problems and has movements several times a day, we can never predict how loose or not they are going to be. But we took loads of huggies little swimmers and had no accidents at all. The pool was closed on 2 occassions over our fortnight, the first time it was closed from lunchtime til the following morning and the second time was from afternoon until the following morning on our last day. Neither of which were down to us thankfully

We didn't venture very far from the hotel complex as it was just too stressful with the kids. But there is plenty on the complex to keep them occupied and we didn't even make use of the kids clubs.
Because of the ages of our kids they would have had to go to 2 different kids clubs, and the little one could have gone to the creche. BUT they are all at different times so we could only pack one off at any time. And the times were different every day so it was a nightnmare trying to remember which club was when - needless to say I just didn't bother.
There is a wee park for up to 12's beside the creche, and even when the creche isn't open there is a large soft play area for wee ones that you can use at anytime (the a/c is fantastic in there).

I would love to go back here again next year, and I think the only thing I would do differently would be to hire a car so we could get around more

“Not for us”

Sirenis Seaview Country Club

Jul 26, 2008

We were disappointed with our choice of the Sirenis Seaview.

Weather: fantastic

Location: On the bay at the furthest point away from San Antonio. If you intend going in to San An a lot then you’ll be relying on taxis. There is a small but adequate supermarket opposite the hotel and others within a 15 minute walk. 15-20 minutes takes you into the heart of the local entertainment area with bars and restaurants. It’s mostly like Blackpool but there are a couple of gems – recommend Kumhara for chillout, sunset and food and also Little India for an excellent curry. San An itself is nice (Villa Mercedes is a must visit for a meal/cocktail) and you need to get out and see the rest of Ibiza which is a beautiful island.

Room: Very disappointing for 4 star. Small, poor décor, and the kitchen was unusable. The kitchen was in fact a cupboard that opened up to reveal a sink and a hob above a fridge. There was no storage room for food in the cupboard above as it held the cups and plates and this alone filled it. When you washed up there was nowhere to put the plates etc to drain as this space was taken up by the hob. I would not recommend that you book the hotel if you intend to self cater.

Food: Cannot comment on the restaurant meals as we were self catering. We used the pool side bar for meals and it was a very basic standard. There are plenty of “restaurants” in the town for those who want an alternative.

Pool: Far too cramped. Plenty of sunbeds available but they are absolutely rammed in like sardines in a can and so there isn’t enough personal space. 2 poolside bars and getting served was not a problem. Worst thing was the noise as they constantly played music at a very loud level – okay for a while but after a few hours you are longing for them to turn it off. It also meant that in the week that we were there we heard the same songs several times.

Entertainment: During the day there were lots of activities for both kids and adults – quizzes, football, water-polo, pool games, exercise classes, kids shows (parrots, magic, cartoon characters). It’s what the Seaview does best and is great for families with kids. We didn’t see the evening entertainment at the hotel but we did hear it – it’s held outside and you can’t get away from it if you wanted too. In the bay the entertainment was similar – singers of various genres and abilities.

Summary: I would love to go back to Ibiza again but there is no way that I would stay at the Seaview. 3 main reasons – 1. There are better locations; 2. Its just too noisy with all day music and noise until 2am; 3. It didn’t feel 4 star and certainly the room was not up to standard. I am not saying that the Seaview is a bad hotel, for people with families I’m sure that it’s a good choice, but for the 2 of us it was simply the wrong choice.

“Lovely time”

Sirenis Seaview Country Club

Jul 21, 2008

We had a great time at the Sirenis Seaview Country Club. The complex was great for catering for children and the Kids' club provided great entertainment. The Thomas Cook entertainment reps did a great job and seemed to keep young and old happy.
One criticism I have is that to call the apartment self catering was a bit of an exaggeration. Not that I want to be cooking a 3 course meal on holiday, but I would have been grateful for the option. We had a 4 year old with us and going out every night to eat chips is a bit tedious. The restaurants around the complex varied in quality, but the menus were quite similar with very little vegetable matter obvious.
Despite a few shortcomings we had a very good holiday and pelnty of sunshine (most of the time).

“nice hotel - bit noisey - loads of kids”

Sirenis Seaview Country Club

Jul 16, 2008

Just back from 2 weeks at the Seaview, nice hotel - but a bit noisey at the pool and LOADS of kids.

The hotel is a wee bit out the way - we went self catering - eating out - the meals at the snack bar are ok - but if you can be bothered to walk a bit further to the beach there are a few good eating places there - especially the Bull Bar. The food there is excellent. Good food at good prices.

There's a small much cheaper supermarket also at the other side of the beach - water etc half the price of the water in the supermarket accross the road. The spar just up the road from there is good also.

It's a good 10 min walk into town for more eating places.

Ate at the hotel restaurant once, not that impressed by it - we were later in going in that night- glad we were self catering!!

I wouldn't go back to this hotel again because of the noise at the pool - but if you've got young kids and are in to all the "fun" at the pool - you'll love it!
