My husband and I wanted to celebrate his 80th birthday in style, so we contacted Pat and Cyndi and planned to stay a week at Casa Luna Azul. It was a perfect trip right from the start: a direct flight on Alaska Airlines from Seattle to Puerto Vallarta where Pat picked us up and offered us a cold bottle of water. The sky was bright blue, the sun was warm, and the breeze was blowing in the palm trees. We got settled into our room - a huge room with excellent king-size bed, our own balcony, and a ceiling fan that kept it very comfortable. We never did need to use the AC. Margaritas on the covered patio with the breeze blowing and we knew we were in Paradise. Surrounded by bougainvilleas, hibiscus and palms, we relaxed totally. Pat and Cyndi were wonderful hosts, providing a tasty breakfast each morning, an office with wi-fi, a Vonage phone to the U.S. and a local phone. Casa Luna is only 1/2 hour from Puerto Vallarta, which we visited several times to shop, eat, and stroll along the Malecon, the promenade along the seawall. We celebrated my husband's 80th at the nicest restaurant in Bucerias, Sandrina's, which is set in a lovely courtyard. Pat and Cyndi took us to Sayulita one day, a beautiful beach with waves for surfing or boogie-boarding. The weather was perfect every day, in the 70's and 80's, and since Casa Luna is only 3 blocks from the beach, there is always a lovely cool breeze to keep it comfortable. Pat and Cyndi introduced us to several of the local people - Mexicans, Canadians and Americans - who live and work in Bucerias. It is a very welcoming place. We would definitely go back for another dose of Paradise.
