We booked our trip through Cheapcarribean.com and the deal was unbelieveable so we did not set our expections too high. My husbands adn I are both in the hotel industy so we tend to be a little more demanding.

We were very pleased with our choice. We told them that is was our anniversary and they put us in a nice ocean view room and even sent a bottle of wine and a basket of fruit to the room. The rooms was clean, not perfect but I never felt like it was dirty. Our package included bfst which was a nice buffet. A little different every day. The birds on the outside patio are quite aggressive and if you walk away they will take the food right off your plate.

The beach was nice but it was a little rough getting into the water..the first few feet was very rocky but then it is fine. We did a little snorkling around the rocks and spotted some fish. There is a good litle coffee shop right by the road in front of the hotel which had really good lunch items at much better prices than the hotel.

I would definately choose this hotel again.

“I had a great time”

Amaryllis Beach Resort

June 23, 2008 to July 1, 2008, After reading the reviews on this website, i had second thoughts about staying at the amaryllis beach resort. I even set my self up for disappointments, but i don't let it stop me seeing that i havn't gone on vocation in two years. But when i got there i was very pleased with the service the front desk provided, they were very friendly. We had a beach front room and it was very clean and just right. When we first walked in a light was going off and on and the guy that helped with our bags had maintenance come up in less then five mins to fix it, very quick service. Maid service was cool had no problems, it was nice coming back from a long day of activies to a nicely cleaned room. We got a safe deposit boxe for the 8 nights that we were there and had no problems get in and out of it. The convenience store was great cause we got snacks and things we forget home. Annette over in the activities centre was such a big help and she was very friendly, and because of her i really enjoyed my trip, we had something to do every day. We ate out most of the time but we had dinner at the almond tree restaurant, the food and price was average and also twice at the turtle nest beach bar and wasn't too happy with my food on the second time but is was cool too. The bajan people we're friendly, not once was i faced with any hostile attitude. We had a great time and something readers should always remember, is that you get what you put out and someone elses bad experience doesn't mean it's a bad place and shouldn't stop you from enjoying your vocation. I would love to return.

“Nice Enough”

Nice hotel in a good location. The rooms are all very big and have a kitchen area within them. I stayed in the standard room on my first few days of island hopping and then stayed for a few nights in a luxury one bed apartment on my way home. The standard rooms are nice - big, a/c, nice beds and a balcony. The luxury apartment was also nice, but not quite what I would call luxury. Still the view from the balcony was wonderful.

The breakfasts are a bit rubbish, but the bar area is quite nice and relaxed. There are two pools which are nice and the hotel is directly on the beach. The reception staff are brilliant and very helpful. My view of this hotel is that it is 'nice'. It is not luxury. I would stay here again.

“Needs much improvement”

It's right on the beach which is great and it's clean and quiet at night which is also great but the service leaves much to be desired. They charge you for safe deposit boxes that don't work, the maid forgets to clean your room and they don't even apologize, they seem very blaze and short and they take forever to fix things, i.e. the lock in the room didn't work and I had to keep calling and their attitude was "whatever". Breakfast was good but don't eat anything else there for it's highway robbery and they collect the money right away if you charge to your room as though you were going to run away but the entire island has a hostile attitude which is surprising since they live off tourism and their beaches are not that pretty to begin with so in conclusion I wouldn't go back to the hotel or Barbados.

“what a deal”

Amaryllis Beach Resort

Great location, right on the beach, soft white sand, steps from the hotel.Lots of padded lounge charis, free to guests.Free boogie boards and snorkel equipment on loan.

Wonderful views from the ocean side rooms, try and get a balcony. Open air restaurant. Nice grounds, gated with security guard. Clean, nice large rooms, but dont expect the Hilton

.Caution: they clean the rooms, sinks, counters with bleach(to control mildew in a humid climate), so be careful not to brush up against a wet surface, it will leave a bleach mark on your clothes.

King bed in most rooms, consists of 2 twins joined together, dont worry, you will hardly notice.Fridge and hairdryer in each room.

Best to get a package. Sometimes just $399 from Miami, including air, 7 nights hotel, full daily breakfast., around the first of June or end of November., to avoid the main times for potential hurricanes.

What a deal!

Rent a car, see all of Barbados. You will get lost due to poorly signed roads, and lack of good maps, but it is a small island, and you cant get too lost.

The town of Oisten on the southern coast is the place for fresh, cheap seafood, from lots of mom and pop stands, all grouped together.

Barbados is in the far southern Caribbean, so expect a long flight.. If you dont have a package with set flights, consider a night over in Miami, to reduce travel fatigue.
