hotel was lovely, as were many of the guests. The food was pretty much the same everyday, no matter what the 'theme' for the evening.the entertainment was awful, which was a problem considering the hotel was in the middle of nowhere.another problem was the fact that i had a mp3 player stolen, others had money, cameras, mobile phones and jewellery stolen.the manager also refused to come down and speak to us about this, and resolve the situation.when all of us went down to the police station they would only put the stolen items as lost, even though a couple walked in on 2men in there room, and me and the person i was their with saw the same man on the reception roof.on a good note..their was some terrific views, corfu is a beautiful island..just choose another hotel!

“The truth”

Myself and my wife were at the Aeolos orange hotel for seven nights, and having read the reviews both bad and good were dubious to say the least.
I have to say our experiences were generally good, I will list a few points that we consider relevant:
The room was clean, and ample for us. Recently decorated.
The food was varied, with different themes each night, but could become boring as each theme felt the same, eating on the dining balcony was near impossible in the evening, need to get there early. Beware the wasps in the morning on the balcony.
The complex was large, and very hilly, our room was in the Alkinoo's up a steep incline, good way to walk off all the excesses.
The pools were fine, the infinity pool very impressive set with a spectacular view, the second in the main complex was smaller but ok, but a shortage of beds, and space at both.
The bar was set by reception, with a balcony with great views, before but gets busy before evening meal. They do not serve diet drinks.
The beach was small, and if you don't get up at 0600 to put your towel on a bed you may be disappointed. You will also see those beds with towels on are not used for hours. The slide for kids only is in my opinion drops into water thats too shallow.
The al-a-carte was poor, and not worth the effort, with no evidence of a dress code to my knowledge!
There is very little else in the vicinity of the complex, nowhere to walk, there is a local bus service to Corfu and Benitsises at the bottom of the drive, tickets from supermarket across the road, or the complex shop. We hired a scooter and travelled to the west coast for large pratically empty sandy beaches, St Georges our favourite.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, and would recommend it to a friend, but we won't be going back.

“We loved it!”

We stayed here as a last minute booked holiday and it far exceeded our expectations.
On arrival, there was a mini bus waiting to take us and our luggage to reception for check in, and they they took us to our room which was right at the top of the resort. Again, at the end of the holiday, the mini bus took us back down to the main road where we waited for our coach to the airport.

The room:
The rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable. In ours there was a double bed, a sofa bed, TV, wardrobe, fridge (came in very handy!) and had a lovely bathroom. We had the most stunning view from our balcony which had a table and chairs provided. Each morning we woke with a view of the ocean and Greece in the background.
The room would be cleaned each day with linen and towels changed on request.

Reception / Bar / Restaurant:
The reception / bar area was a very nice with a variety of comfortable seating. There were 2 small shops in reception for gifts or the daily paper!
There are 4 bars in this resort! The main bar has a great seating area where you can have the most wonderful views!
The bar near the small pool is very handy when watching the evening entertainment.
The bar at the beach is great for when you want to spend the day there, there is also a buffet bar at the beach for snacks, fruit and a choice of pasta at lunch.
There is also a bar at the main pool, this pool has stunning views also.
The main restaurant had great buffets each day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Always something new to try and delicious. The only pain is stilling outside to eat as there were a number of wasps hanging around. We sat inside most of the time. There is an a la carte retaurant which we ate in one night, was nice though we preferred the main restaurant.

Entertainment:
The entertainment team do a great job especially if you have little ones. They have a daily kids club and a kids mini disco each night and then with a different show each night. We did enjoy watching the entertainment most evenings though they do translate into 5 or so different languages!

The Beach:
The beach is very nice with a variety of water sports on offer. There are also plenty of sunbeds though you would need to get there before lunch time to use them. The water was crystal clear and warm.

Outside of the resort:
There is a supermarket on the main road in the resort which came in handy for coffee and milk! They also sell lilos and snorkell gear as well as other stock.
Benitse town is a very nice place to visit for only 0.75 euro each way, this too has an amazing beach and restaurants. Corfu town is worth a visit for 1.10 euro each way.

Our only slight problem with this resort was the occasional lingering smell due to the waste systems not being the best in Corfu. But once you get past that, this resort is definitely worth a visit.

“Fab!”

I have returned from this wonderful hotel and was so sad to leave the place I had tears in my eyes as I left. Le me start by saying the food was free! This I could not believe to be tru in my wildest of dreams!

Also the drinks where also free and I got drunk many times during the hoilday apart from one evening when I could not get out of bed due to a very bad ache in my head.

The hotel was clean and there where also lemon trees outside which I used for fresh lemons (also free). I recommened that you buy a floatable bed from the little shop down the hill as it was much fun. Also he has a large selection of fine nuts. You can also buy bust tickets from here to get around. I did not get around but you can if you wish.

Over all I would say this place is good for many people but not the very old or people with legs of wood due to the many hills.

5/5 !! bravo.

“What a conundrum………”

Aeolos Mareblue Hotel & Resort

Sep 7, 2007

We (family of 4) spent the last week of August 2007 here. In some ways this has 4+ star qualities, in other 2 star (my wife actually said she could understand if one person slated the place, while the next raved about it). First the disappointing bits.
The room was very basic with only one wardrobe between the four of us. Not such a problem as we only had a week, but any longer would have been a struggle. The décor is very dour, although we had plenty of room (we had separate bedroom) and it was clean. The beds were firm bordering on concrete; both my wife and I woke at least once every night. The air con was very effective, although only worked if you inserted the room key fob in the switch, which made the room very hot on return from the day or after the evening. The fob does detach from the key, so we ended up leaving it in the switch for the evenings. One good thing is that towels and bed linen can be changed on request as often as required.
The restaurant food was ok, but only ok, although perfectly edible; although the Chef station was good with freshly cooked meats (we had Roast Chicken and Lamb to name but two, both of which were lovely). There seemed to be a lack of staff as most days I had to ask for a table to be laid up and also cleared plates myself as the service was not quick enough. The actual room itself was about the right size, and is light and airy, plus the balcony with the views over the sea was a bonus (although there were a few wasps about and the usual cats).
The reception staff were adequate, nice and smiley when all ok, but not so helpful with problems. My son bought 30 minutes on the PC, but couldn’t get logged in. The lady behind reception told us we must be doing something wrong as it was very simple, and no we couldn’t have a refund, and then started talking to the next guest. When I went to see her, she reluctantly agreed to get someone to come down. Not sure who he was, but when he arrived (20 minutes later) he didn’t seem to impressed to be bothered with such a trivial matter, except the PC had gone wrong and he had to re-boot to get it going correctly. He then left without an apology or smile!
One other thing that was an annoyance was no ‘diet’ drinks in the hotel.
The good bits.
Although the climb from the beach to the room was steep (110 steps got us half way – we were right at the top) the setting is pretty spectacular. As mentioned above the views from the restaurant terrace were great, and the bar on the next level up, were similarly good. The reception area and bar were very pleasant, and the atrium was a nice place to sit for half an hour after dinner. Most of the staff were friendly and did as much as they could to help bearing in mind their lack of numbers. Most of the usual alcoholic drinks were available and there were a few cocktails included in the AI deal. The international brands were a bit restricted in their numbers, but at EUR 3 each, not overly expensive.
The main pool is situated on the hill side and over looks the sea. Plenty of beds and umbrellas and it was well kept in terms of tidiness and cleanliness. There was no music playing, but the bar was good with decent snacks throughout most of the day, and freshly cooked chips to order.
The beach was very good. Nice sand with stones at the waters edge. The water was exceptionally clear and nice and warm, even at 150 meters out from the shore, the seabed was visible. The waterslide into the sea is good fun (kids only though). The landing area is a little on the shallow side and there is no real supervision, but otherwise our two loved it. The beach bar is fantastic!! All the same AI facilities, excellent pizza and chips, fresh fruit, plus fresh pasta cooked to order while you waited. At all the bars, free beach towels are available (after a EUR 1O deposit per towel is paid at reception (voucher system)) and can be exchanged for clean towels as often as you like.
Not much around the hotel, Benitsis is really a cab/bus ride away (the road is not easily walked) Cab was EUR 8, the bus EUR 0.75 each. There is a supermarket opposite the main entrance, get your water here, EUR 0.60 vs EUR 2.00 in the hotel.
Despite everything, I think I’d give the holiday itself proberbly 6 and a bit/10, and if asked I’d genuinely say we had a nice time. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, although it was considerably cheaper that other hotels we looked at, so I guess you pay your money and make your choice.
